Ten per cent of British people have broken up with their partner due to a lack of cleanliness, research has found. 😲
Research commissioned by The Ideal Home Show found good cleaning habits follows having a good sense of humour as the second most important quality people look for in a potential lover. As many as 61 per cent of responders said a good sense of humour is the most important quality in a romantic partner.
By comparison, 59 per cent said cleaning habits were the most important quality in a lover while 39 per cent look for someone who is well-groomed. More than a third (36 per cent) of Brits clean their homes every single day, with the average individual spending almost an entire week – 6 days and 7 hours – tidying up each year.
Giles Perry, Event Director at Media 10, the organisers of The Ideal Home Show, said: “Prior to the pandemic, cleaning was already becoming ever more important to homemakers in the UK – you only have to search on Instagram to see over six million posts on the subject.
“Add to that, it is of even greater importance now, for obvious hygiene reasons, and it’s easy to see why it is such a huge topic.
“We wanted to find out just how much importance Brits place on cleanliness in the home and family life and it’s clear to see from our research cleaning is a top priority – both in terms of happy home making and, interestingly, in relationships too.
