Hi everyone, I would like to thank all of our customers that chose to use Envirotrap Pest Control to deal with their pest control problems throughout 2017 and to our regular customers that have decided to use us as their main Pest Control contractor for 2018 - thank you for the continued support!

Hopefully this will be the last post for wasps this year... however it isn't unheard of for them to still be buzzing around into the later months. Last year we got called to a house in November with the customer reporting wasp activity outside their bedroom window. To our surprise there was in fact still an active wasp nest in their loft 😬!

Usually wasps will die off at the end of September, however it is becoming more and more common to see them much later into the year. As you can see from the attached picture it's fascinating how perfect each and every cell within the nest is constructed.
Next years Queens should now be leaving the old nests and going into hibernation over winter, waiting to reappear in early spring. She will start building her own nest which will be as small as a golf ball with only 7 cells, but by the end of the year the nest can be as big as a beach ball containing thousands of cells! 🔄🔄🔄

Now that the weather is cooling down and it's getting cold outside, rodents such as rats and mice will be looking for somewhere warm to live. This could be your garden shed, garage or even worse... inside your home!

The picture below shows where rats have managed to gnaw their way through a customers floor and wall in their garage. They have been entering and helping themselves to pet food stored inside.

We provided this customer with a safe and effective solution which now means their pets no longer have to share their food with any intruders 🐭❌

***Prevention is better than cure***

This is a job we were called to in Edinburgh recently. The customer had noticed there had been a number of squirrels sitting on the window ledge outside of premises.

The customer wanted to ensure that they could not enter the building, therefore we came up with a simple cost-effective solution for them. We done this by fixing galvanized wire mesh over the bars of the window. This method of installation ensures that squirrels will be unable to enter the premises and there is no damage done to the stone work or window frame outside.

In this case the customers pro-active approach has prevented any future problems or damage which could have been caused if squirrels were able to entry into the property. 👍🏼

We got called to this house in Alloa. The customer reported that they had a wasp nest and the wasps were attacking them every time they were at their front door or in their garden (they weren't kidding!!)

If you see wasps acting aggressively like this it's time to call a professional!

The wasp nest is now treated and the customer is able to relax in their garden.

One of today's domestic jobs in Houston, Johnston (could you just have a look in my loft please 😬). We treated the nest to get rid of the wasps last week and returned today after the customer asked for the nest to be removed.

This is slightly larger than normal but the nest has been removed and disposed of without any problems!

Why don't you have a look in your loft and see if you can find one as big as this?
