The best Christmas present ever ... a beautiful Christmas poem from one of our very own Odd Socks family who is now overseas......
With credit to the one and only Sabine 🥰🥰🥰
A Very Clean Christmas in North Yorkshire
In North Yorkshire, where the wind says “ey up, lad,”
There’s a cosy little place that’s delightfully mad.
A Caffèelaundrette — now that’s quite the sight,
Where fresh socks and flat whites feel perfectly right.
The washers hum gently, the dryers all chime,
Coffee smells festive — sweet cinnamon time.
A place where the locals can pause and unwind,
With warmth in a mug and clean clothes on their mind.
But that’s only one part of the story we tell,
There’s another side too — and it’s run just as well:
A housekeeping service, reliable and bright,
For holiday cottages and flats done up right.
From duvets to towels, from carpets to floor,
They leave every cottage sparkling once more.
Guests arrive smiling, impressed from the start,
Because care and precision are part of the craft.
The team works harder than reindeer at night,
With standards so high they’d impress Santa outright.
They laugh and they graft, every hand plays its part,
Because teamwork’s the thread that holds stitch close to heart.
The bosses lead kindly, with fairness and grace,
Putting people and pride right at centre-stage place.
Human and helpful, supportive and true,
They make work feel like family — all year through.
And tucked by the dryers, quite sneaky and sly,
Lives Ollie the Odd Sock — not lost, just nearby.
One stripe, one dot, never part of a pair,
A legend of laundry with flair to spare.
By night he slips out when the lights are all low,
Guiding lost jumpers and shirts where to go.
He comforts sad socks in linty despair,
A tiny wool hero with Yorkshire grit and care.
With humour so dry and accents so warm,
Like tea in a mug during wintery storms,
This isn’t just business — it’s laughter and heart,
Where kindness and cleanliness quietly start.
So here’s to good friends, both near and afar,
Whether folded up neatly or left slightly ajar.
Merry Christmas to all, and as this year draws to an end,
A Happy New Year — and a grand “good on ya,” my friend. 🎄🧦✨
