"You can't park there, mate... 🐦😂"

I was called out to a property in West Street, Billinghay, where I found this wood pigeon had taken a wrong turn.

Thankfully, it wasn't injured and was safely released afterwards.

A little bonus for me was that I used to live just across the road from where I let it go—about 40 years ago. Funny how life comes full circle.

🔥 Summer is the perfect time to get your chimney swept. 🔥

While the stove isn't being used, it's the ideal time to make sure everything is ready for the colder months.

Summer appointments are usually easier to book, and if any issues are found, there's plenty of time to put them right before autumn arrives.

Every sweep includes routine safety checks and a HETAS sweeping certificate.

What started as an outdoor job ended up as an indoor job to dodge the rain ⛈️

This stove needed upper and lower door seals replacing, along with a specialist glass seal as this model uses double glazed stove glass.

Worn seals can affect combustion, make the stove harder to control and cause the glass to blacken much quicker.

New seals supplied and fitted, ready for another burning season 👍

I never rush jobs just to get onto the next one. Taking the time to do it properly always matters more.

This stove looked fairly clean at first glance, but behind the baffle was a different story 👀

The soot trap was packed with crispy creosote and the flue was becoming heavily restricted.

This is the second sweep this year on this stove.

In this case it wasn’t the fuel causing the issue — it was being repeatedly slumbered overnight. Starving a stove of air creates poor combustion, which quickly leads to soot, tar and creosote build up.

A stove should be burning properly, not slowly smouldering away for hours.

All swept and cleared out ready for safe use again 👍

Out working locally today and spotted Moorland Service Station in Woodhall diesel at 169.9 👀

Around 15p a litre cheaper than some other local stations at the minute.

Worth knowing if you’re covering the miles like I am 🚐
