Before and after from today.. Ilex Aquifolium was reduced in height slightly and the dome shape was improved also opened up the underneath to increase airflow and reveal stems. Then focused on reducing height of Elaeagnus Ebbingei to allow more of the view to be seen and removal of dead and diseased wood from underneath. More to finish tomorrow…

A little storm damage to deal with this morning. Fortunately it hasn’t done any major damage to the other trees. Didn’t anticipate this particular tree falling down though, you just never can tell.. it’s right in the middle of this little grove. 🌿🌱🌻

Grass and perennial w**ds are highly competitive and will deprive your fruit trees of the essential water and nutrients they need to thrive. Grass root systems are finely divided and are very efficient at removing water and nutrients from soils.
My advice would always be to have a w**d free area around the base of your fruit trees and have it mulched each year to feed and keep w**ds at bay. This is an orchard I’m looking after for a client and have been slowly removing all the couch grass to help the apple tree going forward.
