Having moved into a new house, Darryl was convinced new driveway was the only option... 🥶

Darryl initially reached out in October 2024, at that point he was seriously considering investing in a new driveway - but me being me... I offered a different approach 🤔

Having been so confident I would be able to restore this worn driveway, I offered Darryl a deal:

"I will clean it, but if you are not happy with how it turns out you simply don't pay". 😍

Fast forward to August, Darryl took me up on the offer... and look at those results! 🤙

Do you think a new driveway costing £1000's would have looked better? Definitely, but we can't deny the fact that this driveway now looks close to perfect... and all of that on a shoe string budget of a few £100's with the rest now available to be spent on renovations elsewhere in the house! 🤩

Feels good to be recommended! 😎

Having recently cleaned a customers driveway in Cheadle to an exceptional standard (yes, I am bragging - so what... I am proud of my work! 😁), I was asked to take a look at their Mum's property in Stoke on Trent.

This one was a little different - no driveway, patio, render or a roof to clean.... instead, I was asked if I could do something with this wall 🤔

* Could I? I don't say no to anything! 😎
* Was it easy? Kind of... you see that tarmac below?

Inappropriate use of chemicals on tarmac can lead to serious issues, like bleaching for example... ever splashed bleach on a clothes to only find that you now have a white patch and the piece is ruined? Same thing here - scary! 😱

Never mind though - I know what I am doing.... soak the tarmac, cover with sheeting and apply chemicals away from it. Job done.

Result?
Customer couldn't believe that years of spoilt looks were gone in a few hours! 😍

Last week I had the pleasure of restoring this tarmac driveway 🤙

This one was a tough one - lots of moss, algae and much to my surprise... cement stains which are difficult to remove, especially from tarmac! 😱

Although normally cement stains would be incur additional charge, on this occasion I only had myself to blame - the job was quoted remotely and it wouldn't be right to increase an already agreed price ⭐️

Armed with brick acid, the clean up began...

1. Full pressure wash of the entire driveway
2. Multiple applications of hydrochloric acid to shift the cement
3. Biocide treatment to ensure moss does not rush to come back
4. Tidy up all around - rinse of all doors, windows, fences and the road... then,
4. Two coats of the magical Smartseal UK Ltd tarmac restorer

Customer reaction: "Oh my God, it looks like new!" 😍

And all of this for an absolute fraction of the cost of resurfacing!

You know you did the job right if the customers Dad thinks the photos are AI generated! 😍

As we all know, tarmac driveways look great, but the gradual loss of resin means that sooner or later this brand new look will transform into a faded, tired and often moss infested surface.

So what is the answer? Well, there are 2️⃣ actually:

* Tarmac resurfacing - this is where a top layer of the tarmac is removed and a new tarmac is laid... Sounds expensive? You're right! Looking at somewhere around £70-£100m2! 😱

* Tarmac restoration/sealing - this is my all inclusive treatment, including pressure washing with an industrial grade machine, chemical treatment to remove existing (and prevent buildup of new) moss followed by the sealing... and the best of it is - all of that at around 10% OF THE COST 😍

Sounds good right? Bet you're wondering what the catch is?
I've got to be honest, there simply isn't one!

The tarmac sealer not only restores the blackness, but also provides:
1. Ongoing protection from staining such as oil leaks (which often lead to the tarmac disintegrating)
2. Huge reduction in moss regrowth (moss can't grow into the tarmacs sealed surface)
3. The deep, rich black colour can be expected to last for approx. 3 years, but a simple maintenance coat every 24 months will keep the look indefinitely.

This week I'd like to say a massive thank you to all residents from Kingsley Hall, Newcastle under Lyme.

Recently I've had the pleasure of being appointed to pressure wash the entire carpark, in total just over 1.5km2 - huge! 😍

I am still learning to use the drone, and the photos are not perfectly lined up, but don't you think it looks soo much better? The residents were so happy with the outcome that I ended up cleaning 5 other patios at the same time.

How long did it all take? Just over a week 🤙

Stone window sills - love them or hate them...

Marmite anyone? 🤢

Sarah got in touch regarding a few bits and bobs she needed cleaning, but like a chameleon, over the years turning black... these pesky window sills stole the show! 😍

How does this happen? Well, contrary to popular belief they are not actually dirty - they are covered in organic "living" matter such as algae, mould and lichen 🪸

Their porous, forever damp and exposed to sun nature is a perfect bacteria breeding ground.

Whatever mate, you're waffling on - Mine are like that, get to the point and tell us how to clean them! 😡

Ok, I've got you - To start off with, do not pressure wash them... believe it or not, the stone is extremely soft and although pressure washing will remove the build up of the dirt... you will likely remove half of the window sill with it! 😱

✅ That's the reason why soft washing is the only option!

It’s a slow process:
• Apply a specialist chemical
• Leave it to dwell for 20–30 minutes
• Rinse it gently
• Repeat until it looks right ⏰

How many times did you treat this one? To be honest, I didn't count - must have been at least 5 though.

Wasn't it worth it though? 💯% 🤩

Sarah was so pleased with the results, she even forgave me for breaking the plant pot when cleaning the patio... yep, I well and truly smashed it! 🙈

It was an accident of course, still embarrassing though! 😳
