Car broken down unexpectedly?

Burning smell from a wheel? Don't ignore it!

Over the weekend we were called out to a customer after they noticed an overheating wheel, a burning smell after driving, and reduced braking performance.

One of our mechanics carried out an initial inspection, after checking the braking system, the issue was diagnosed as a seized brake caliper.

A seized brake caliper can lead to:
- Excessive heat from the affected wheel.
- ⁠Premature brake pad and disc wear.
- ⁠Reduced braking performance.
- ⁠Damage to other braking components if left unresolved.

Once the fault was identified, we collected the correct replacement part, fitted the new caliper, and fully bled the braking system to ensure everything was operating correctly!

The vehicle is now back to normal and safe to drive again.
If you notice these signs, it's always best to have it checked sooner rather than later!

A customer contacted us after being advised by another garage that their windscreen wiper motor had broken and needed replacing.

After inspecting the vehicle ourselves, we found that the issue wasn't actually the motor. The fault was caused by a worn wiper linkage, which was preventing the wipers from operating correctly.

We ordered the replacement linkage and returned to fit it for the customer. Once installed the window wipers were working exactly as they should!

This is a good example of why proper inspection and diagnosis is so important before replacing part! 🔧🚗

Last week we were called out to a vehicle that had been involved in an accident and was left on its side.

Situations like this require more than just a tow, they require control, experience and the correct equipment.

Using a controlled winching setup, we carefully got the vehicle back on to all four wheels, ensuring no additional damage was caused. It was then loaded onto our trailer and transported directly to the customers home.

Most importantly, we're wishing the driver a speedy recovery and hope they are doing well!

We recently carried out a full service on this Fiat Punto, which included replacing the engine oil, all relevant filters and fitting a new set of spark plugs.

The vehicle had no documented service history prior to purchase, so a complete service was necessary to establish a fresh baseline for future maintenance.

Why is regular servicing important?
Engine oil naturally breaks down over time, when it loses its protective properties, it can no longer lubricate internal components effectively. This increases wear and can lead to costly engine damage.

Filters, such as air, fuel, oil and cabin, are designed to protect both the engine and the vehicle systems. When left unchanged, they become restricted and can affect performance, fuel economy and reliability.

Spark plugs can also wear over time, which can lead to:
