So yet another one of mr Telford Rollins previous customers I’ve attended and this is what he’s signed off as safe to use in the first picture.
Completely filled the stove and Vit pipe with resin and soot.
The second picture of the cowl coated in tar and creasote was apparently chemically cleaned by mr Rollin and then signed off by one of his associates.if you have dealt with him in the past or anyone associated with him then get in touch I will check your appliance for free.

So this is a direct result of burning treated wood,it may be free but it will cost you in the long run.this stove and liner now has to be chemically cleaned and will not be fully functional until it’s clear.and not to mention the damage that is already done.

The first time I attended this customers house for a sweep I was told that they had a local guy who used to turn up with his wife but has now retired and a relative has now taken over.i won’t name them but if you read this and know who I mean and have used them or anyone acotiated with them I would seriously consider having your appliance checked over.its not the first one of their customers I’ve been to and had to condemn their stoves/fire due to poor sweeping and poor or no advice.this customers chimney was almost completely blocked with tar and resin and the previous sweep has said or done nothing about it.2 hours with a chain head rotary system to clear almost a sack full of resin,this could have killed someone as it was backing up and filling not only the customers house with smoke but also the next door neighbours too.
They are an absolute disgrace to the profession.
Seriously if you have used them in the past I would be getting a second opinion

So here is the cowel of a customer who contacted me recently.the customer (an oap)
Complained about smoke coming back into the room,they told me they had a local reputable sweep come out who told them they’ve got tar or resin in their flue liner,which looking at this photo was correct.this “reputable sweep” advised them they needed a chemical clean,again correct.the sweeps relative came out charged the customer an additional £200 to chemically clean the chimney and then signed it off as fit for use.
This photo is how I found the cowel on my visit,anyone with half a brain can see this is not fit for use!!
Please be careful who you use to sweep/service your stoves,this is not the first time this “reputable “ sweep has left stoves in a state where I’ve had to condemn them.
I won’t lower myself to name them,but hopefully by word of mouth it will spread soon.
My customers safety is paramount.

I’m sorry if this upsets anyone but i just need to let people know how important it is to have a bird cap fitted to any stove or open fire.
When I arrived at this sweep the customer explained how the last time they had a fire it just die out with all vents open.this was concerning so I sent the brushes up and managed to go all the way up and out of the chimney pot.no bird cap was fitted to this stove and on the way back down I felt some resistance,this resulted in me sending the camera up and thank god I did.
As I’ve said before,you are not just paying for a sweep.you are paying to know your stove/fire is safe to use.🙏
