Hi Guys, Friday yay😎.. has been a full on working week with lots of happy satisfied clients and lots of various projects making a satisfying week for me. Today at my new client with the various project phases to be done during the course of the year namely garden maintenance and everything in between, today everything in between👍. Arrived early to get cracking on building two bench/ table furnitures that had been already partly assembled by either a company call “Bodge- it and Leg -it” or someone who definitely needed to go to “Spec Savers” .. I had already seen the mess the bods had done some time ago when setting up a site visit on the furniture and huge garden, so was under no illusion of what lay ahead of me😳. Arrived early and set up my works area on the big raised patio… a real sun trap, factor 30 splashed on and the music ready… Pink Floyd set the mood👍. The half built or can I say not built properly furniture was looking very sorry for it’s self in the garage, lifted up a section and it fell apart, bugggggger😡, these had to be all screwed/ bolted together again in the garage before I could lift them.. cor these are heavy and take them to the patio, what a faff. All laid out to be put together, first thing you notice is wood splinters on the side legs where bolts had be forced in a hole.. what a “B” mess they had done..it appears there had been a manufacture fault where pre bolt holes hadn’t been drilled in by the manufacture. However, there is no excuse in making a hash job and damaging the furniture plus their holes they had put in were totally in the wrong position 🙄. Rant over, the process in finishing off the furniture was down to me.. have done many of these, so prep in getting it level so the sections can joined together is very important, table supported, each section was aligned marks were made and new drill holes done👍. The first table done and all sections are solid, plus it turns into a bench or table…sorted. The second bench/table was the problem child, this I had to re- constructed so all the parts fitted properly especially the moving part section transforming it into a table…what a faff, yep choice Anglo Saxon words were mentioned carried off into the wind.. it’s getting very windy here😳. Lots of tweaking had to be done before new hole were drilled.. all done as the furniture transforms from bench to table… SORTED😁. These were moved to their new homes waiting to be sat on👍. Next, Compost bins to be built.. instructions were totally useless as designed by a four year old… what a faff but eventually two bins built and transferred to the shady part of the garden… done. All done but will be back on Monday to finish off the list, putting up shelves👍. Have a great weekend everybody as Dawn and I will be heading to Montrose for the music festival..crowd surfing here I come with beers 😄😎🤘. Some photos of the day.

Hi Guys, well never done so many windows, doors and the bad boy conservatory windows… all had the old sealant removed so new sealant could be applied..it’s a long process but very much worth it. Music choice to keep me company, Motörhead, Foo Fighters, Led Zep, Echo and the Bunnymen🤘 The front of the house was done first, lots of cutting, scraping and gouging out of the old sealant as I worked my way along .. disposable gloves are a must doing this other wise your fingers become as sticky as fly paper… 😳. Eventually front door, garage door and windows done… sorted, headed to the back of the house with the bad boy conservatory waving a finger at me… that will take time to do with lots of gaps and peeling of old sealant but first, three windows needed to be done first, same process as the front windows and the process started. My bucket of old sealant was filling up with empty tubes of sealant and very sticky disposal gloves but at least no Fly paper fingers😄. The Bad boy conservatory was next… slowing working my way around but eventually all done… phew that was a faff! The last bit one further window and two doors to do… done and I don’t want to see anymore windows, doors and conservatory windows for a very long time to seal😎. Pleased how it’s gone today and all water tight👍. Some photos of the day.

Hi Guys, following tonnes of jobs yesterday for my client all completed, today was one project, “The Back Door”. This is phase three of my project with my client in completing the outside painting of doors and windows, the weather was on my side enabling all the wood to dry out making today a straightforward process👍. Arrived early to get cracking as the back of the property is a real sun trap… last thing I wanted was to melt again… not pleasant! The Door and frame was extremely rough with rot in certain sections especially the widow frames.. this had deteriorated from last year when it was last inspected it…yep all had to be taken out and replaced. Door steps covered and set to work with The Cure, James, Ocean colour scene, Oasis, Blur .. playing all day🤘. The frames were removed using my flat faced crowbar, glass then secured in place with masking tape last thing I wanted was it falling out😳, then the hard graft of wire brushing and sanding down the whole area. Once done, a huge amount of filling in the holes, sealing the frame at the wall and removing lots of small nails everywhere then filling in the small holes. The filler needed to dry so it was a good opportunity to head out to get replacement window beading.. that was fun.. not, the window is sunk into the door meaning a lip, trying to find a L shaped beading to fit was difficult but eventually success at the second place I went to, once back all the areas were sanded down before installing the new beading. Using the existing old beading made the task easy.. all cut to size and put back in the frame, tape was used to keep them in place then Air gun used to good effect.. solid to the door👍. Some filling was required and sealing the beading to the door… sorted, well pleased with the new frame😄. Lunchtime arrived and went quickly, the frame filler now dry, so a good sanding down was needed. Prep done and looking good now the painting could start, two coats of grey then the pink for the door to match the front door I painted this year… three coats applied as it dried quickly… done👍. Finally, the wall frame was painted done… wow what a difference it has made, really pleased with the window frame I made now looking the business. A good clean up of my work area was required… done😎. Some photos of the day.

Hi Guys, what a day makes.. yesterday, melting working outside and today, very pleasant 👍. My client lives out in the sticks with stunning scenery leading to where I was working today.. light and shadows on a prepared field.. lovely👍. Anyway, tonnes to do with strimming being the first on the cards before it gets to hot.. managed to do 95% of the strimming covering all around the property before my strimmer broke😱, it was making a interesting noise before the strimming head stopped turning… bu**er🙁. Hummmm the sound of bits of metal when turning the head by hand. O well, packed up and headed indoors for the big list of jobs to deal with, hook put up, bog roll holder installed.. looks nice then onto installing blinds. Now here’s a thing, these were the wrong size so had to be cut to fit.. you just have to measure and remeasure as mistakes can’t be rectified. The first thing to do was paint both bedroom window tops.. done, then the tricky bit cutting the blinds to fit😱.. all done successfully and working, yay👍. IKEA box’s to install on the walls of both children’s bedrooms.. all straightforward but measuring once again was critical to get it right. All done and looking good, huge big fridge was shifted from one room to another with the help from my client.. boy was it heavy but done👍. The last part of the list was to install new house name plate fix the red flag.. now working and sanding down post box then varnishing it.. done👍. Happy all done but my poor strimmer🙁.. more expense but I have had it for 5 years trouble free and it has done extensive work so it’s one of those things. Some photos of the day.

Hi Guys, what scorcher of a day it’s been with me melting doing garden maintenance and digging holes for the wing frame I erected this year, the frame needed bedding into the ground as the final part of the project. When I left to get to my client it was reading 19c at 7.30 am this morning but once there just on 20c at 8am😳…. South of France temperatures🇾🇪. I wanted to get the prep and the post create done before it got to hot….. how wrong I was on that point… melting with no shade around… digging holes was hard work to a depth of 450 for the back posts and 250 for the front ones, the ground is slopping so had a 200 difference front back and front to get level… fun fun fun. Music choice, Jimi Hendrix, Led Zep, kept me going through the morning, 6 holes were dug and me already drunk 2l of water …..it just evaporated! Swing frame all level as it should be👍.. then the process of the post create followed, done thank goodness as by the time I had finished screwing back the supports, climbing steps etc I was beat. Cleaned up and headed for some shade👍. Lunch over, now came the bad boy front garden hedge looking very hairy… boy was the sun strong, factor 30 had already been applied before I left for work but a second lot was applied for good measure, hedges done and once again I was melting, three green bags filled with a dump run required… by the time I got to Stonehaven my car was reading 31c😳. and there it remained heading back from the dump… phew is all I can say! Last thing to do at my clients was installing a folding gate in a camper to stop her dogs escaping…. done👍. A luke warm shower awaited back home to cool off… still radiating but better than I was👍. Some photos of the day😎

Hi Guys, the weekend saw our Norwegian guests arriving on Friday with a packed weekend of tonnes of stuff to do, the Icing on the cake was the Glencadam Distillery VIP tour on Sunday and whisky tasting. The tickets were Birthday presents for Bruce and Tonje with me tagging along as Dawn bought mine for my birthday in May. The tour took us into areas of the Distillery where standard tours don’t go, the tour was tailored for us getting into the nitty gritty of the whole process… absolutely fascinating, sampling the spirit before going into the barrels… cor blimmy Guv it’s strong stuff but all three of us finished our glasses then it hit us, bang!….relaxed and mellow followed😂. Aviation fuel but it was as smooth as a babies bum… Warning, you will loose your speech as we discovered especially the whisky tasting after the tour😵‍💫. Five bad boy good measure whiskies awaited us in the beautiful appointed room, so funny seeing us getting very relaxed with our speech getting a touch slurred 😄. Three hours this package took us.. well worth it and thank you Glencadam for looking after us… we felt very special and a touch pi**ed, also Dawn who was our taxi back home, cheers babes❤️

Hi Guys, here we are again the weekend is here again, following a very productive week of projects completed and some just being started all will be will be finished in different phases. Yesterday was another day where the sun occasionally popped his head out of the clouds but mostly over cast but was it humid… nice👍. Anyway, back at my clients where the last time I was there was for the mammoth 4 week transformation painting project… now my clients have put up the remaining beautiful landscapes paintings it looks wonderful I must say… I was asked to build the prep chopping board cabinet… it looked easy peasy compared to the bad boy builds I have done for them… O how wrong I was😳. Even my client mentioned to me that views from bods online who had built it, it was a “B “ to construct…. Haaaa I thought to myself and just smiled😁. How wrong I was but in the end it was built from instructions with very small pictures making working out where pugs, screws and other items to be located on the various sections were to go… what fun I had🙄. Music choice curtesy from my client, Guns n Roses and Slash through their speakers… I was rocking in the kitchen🤘. Anyway what seemed like I was stuck in a time warp getting no where in the construction of the unit, it suddenly was all pulled together and finished even the draws opened and closed smoother than a babies bum😎. Phew is all I can say… a good clean up then the start of the first phase of the “Window Project” and headed outside to start on the process of taking out the old and brittle sealant….the front room window was done first with all the sealant showing nice big lifting cracks… and so the process of cutting and digging out started. Once done, window sealant was then applied…. disposable gloves is a must doing this👍. Anyway, this project will be finished but the first window done and sealed. Dawn and I are part of the Fettercairn Clay Pigeon Shoot taking place on Friday afternoon and Saturday, yesterday was a 3pm show up to the shoot to help out and be ready for the opening at 4pm . We were put at “Stand 3”… the best I must say as we shared our sweeties with the participating Guns, always a good crack with tonnes of banter with the guns at the Fettercairn Shoot👍. The shoot finished last night just after 9.30pm, today Dawn and I will be back for the final day of shooting… Sun screen will be plastered on as it will be very hot in the field😎.

Hi Guys, so pleased I didn’t have Garden Maintenance this morning it just pi**ed down for much of the morning especially where I was today near to the coast. Today, back at my clients to finish off the front room painting I almost completed bar this section of wall, a chimney guy needed to line the chimney and plaster board the alcove where the log burner sits including repairing the main wall around the alcove. All this takes time especially the drying of the plaster anyway, everything was sorted with a great plaster finish👍. Arrived early with the heavens dropping buckets of rain… had to sprint with my painting stuff twice to get to the front door to unload. Inspected the final wall to be painted my eyes lingered at the alcove…. Bu**er that’s going to be a faff painting in and around the log burn😱. Hmmmmmmm pleased I had my knee pads as the brick hearth was totally unforgiving especially the ridge.. ouch!. First job was get some music going, now let me see🤔, Punk no, Heavy perhaps, I know, Indi👍. The process of prep could commence with this fleece covering with a plastic backing designed for this type of application with it being 1.2 m wide nice bit of covering for the carpet. Furniture removed and all the coverings put down now came covering the stone hearth slabs around it and the back of the alcove….only solution was to tape up the surface.. what a tight squeeze getting to the slabs but all done… sorted. Sockets and light switches taped up now I could start painting…the alcove was first, put it like this a few choice words were uttered trying to get the cutting in done..what a faff, knees were ok but my shins got knocked a few times due to the hearth ridge😩. Once done, the wall cutting in could start then the first coat of paint could be applied and so four coats latter due to the plaster sucking in the paint until there was a unified wall colour, the fan heater my client supplied quickened the drying time👍. Really pleased with the results with the skirting boards being the last stage of the painting… done. Once the coverings were removed some paint touching up was required …. done and what a difference it has made to the room, furniture put back with my client putting up paintings etc later this evening. My shins are feeling a touch tender from that bu**er of a hearth ridge…🙁. Some photos of the day.

Hi Guys, what a day makes, yesterday pi***ng down and today a very warm day doing gardening work and was is warm.. phew😎. This morning at Poppies Pre-School early to get cracking on the Garden maintenance that was delayed yesterday from the heavy rain, arrived with the grass almost dry👍. Unloaded the equipment and set to work weeding the two big borders first before hoeing and a good rake up. Next, strimming all grass edging before the mowing started and completed with the front garden looking neat and tidy. Now came the very prickly front hedge that I love doing… not, if your not careful the spikes grab your arms when reaching the top of the hedge… ouch🙁. Anyway, both completed with the big sweep up afterwards all looking neat and tidy. Headed to the back garden area to start the hedge trimming there… this is a boundary hedge but next door doesn’t seem to deal with their side..put it like this, it’s a mess. The side , edge and top was done at the school side making good use of my new battery powdered extendable trimmer.. hot knife through butter but still used the bad boy 2 stroke hedge trimmer for the sides👍. All completed and looking tidy apart from the other side🙄. All packed up and headed to my second garden maintenance as part of the catch up from yesterday… boy was it warm this afternoon, had already splashed on factor 30 this morning.. pleased I did👍. My next client has gravel creep from the car tyres… a real pain having to sweep up every time I’m there… I still think she does the Dukes of Hazzard when leaving😂. Anyway, all the garden areas in both front and back garden areas were done including tidying up the back hedge… sorted👍. Only just about managed to finish both gardens before close of play, phew all garden done and I have caught up from yesterday. Tomorrow, painting the last section of wall that had to be plastered.. all done now so I can finish the front room project👍. Some photos of the day👍

Hi Guys, a complete transformation weather wise today, yesterday, I was wearing Speedos while grass cutting getting the Antigua sun tan.. 😂, but today Baltic, horizontal rain and big puddles everywhere. This morning it was drizzle when I arrived, it’s not to bad working outside if you are fully togged up with water proofs but as I was unloading my equipment for todays Garden Maintenance it just erupted with heavy rain and the strong winds started it make it horrible outside from my cozy car😳. Bu**er is all I could say as the prospect of getting drenched was not on my cards for today, got everything put back… well thrown in🙄, windscreen wipers on full blast trying to clear the screen as the car started to steam up… nope I’m not a duck, this will have to wait until tomorrow if I can squeeze this job in for the afternoon. Unfortunately all my jobs are pre planned meaning it’s very difficult changing things around at short notice especially if my clients are not around.. made some calls to see if I could change things around, no can do. O well, have tonnes of stuff to do back home with phase 2 of getting the house prepared for our Norwegian guests turning up on Friday. The rain stopped mid afternoon but too late to tackle this mornings garden maintenance with the distance getting there and the grass would have been soaking. Tomorrow is a different day weather wise so two big garden maintenance jobs to tackle… hummmmm that will be a busy day, may even be able to wear my Speedos 😂😂😂.
