The coffee from your local independent shop tastes better anyway.
Same goes for bread from the bakery down the road.
When you spend money at a small local business, that money stays in your community.
The owner pays their staff, buys from other local suppliers, pays their tax, and actually cares about the quality of what they're selling.
When you spend it at a massive chain, the profits go to shareholders and tax havens.
The product is designed to be as cheap as possible to make while charging you as much as they think you'll pay.
Your mate who just started a business?
They're working twice as hard and they're taking a massive risk.
Buying from them actually means something.
Small businesses create better communities.
They sponsor the local football team, they know your name, they give a damn.
You don't have to boycott every big company.
But if you've got the choice between supporting a local business or lining the pockets of a multinational, choose local when you can.
Your money is a vote for the kind of economy you want to live in.
