An update on Westbrook Laundry

Thank you to everyone who's been in touch and asked how we're doing since the fire at our Church Street shop on 21 July.

I'm sorry to say the shop is still closed, and we don't yet have a date for reopening. The building has to be fully assessed and made safe before anything else can happen, and a lot of that timing is out of our hands. As soon as we have firm news, you'll see it here first.

While the fire is still being investigated, we've been asked not to move or sort anything on site, so we're not able to confirm the state of individual items yet. We know that's frustrating, and that many of you have questions — we're sorry we can't reply to everyone individually right now, simply because until things can be assessed there's nothing specific we can tell you about your own order. If you've added your details to the form, you're on our list and we'll come back to you as soon as we can.

Westbrook Laundry — Update

Thank you all for your continued patience and the kind messages.

We're still waiting for our insurers to complete their work at the premises. Until that's done, we can't access the building or give any update on the condition of individual items. As soon as that changes, we'll let you know here.

If you've already emailed us your details, please fill in the form — it's the one list we're working from, and it makes sure nothing gets missed.

Looking ahead: we're currently exploring options for a temporary laundrette solution, and for dry cleaning too. We don't have the answers right now, but we hope to have a clearer picture early next week — and once we know what the options look like, we'll post them here.

Please don't come to the premises or leave anything there for now.

Westbrook Laundry — Update (Wednesday)

Thank you for all the messages of support since yesterday — genuinely, they’ve meant a lot to us.

Where things stand today:

The fire service and insurers are continuing their work at the premises, and until that’s complete we can’t get inside. We know many of you have items with us and are anxious for news — as soon as we’re able to get in and assess everything, we will be in touch and post an update here. Please bear with us; we’ll give you straight answers as soon as we have them.

In the meantime, please don’t leave any laundry, deliveries or collections at the shop.

If you need to reach us, email [email protected] with your name and ticket number if you have items with us. We’ll reply to every message, though it may take us a little while.

We’re speaking with our commercial customers directly over the coming days.

We’re determined to get Westbrook back up and running as soon as we possibly can. Thank you for your patience — and for the kindness this community has shown us.

Westbrook Laundry – Temporary Closure

Following a fire at our Church Street premises today, Westbrook Laundry is temporarily closed.
Thankfully no one was hurt. We are enormously grateful to Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service for their swift and professional response, and to everyone who has already reached out with kind words and offers of support — it means a great deal.

If you have items with us: we can’t access the building just yet, but as soon as we can, we’ll assess everything and post an update here.

We’ll share a further update tomorrow.

🧺 We’re Hiring — Part-Time Seasonal Laundry Operative
Westbrook Laundry in Kingsbridge is looking for a friendly, reliable person to join our team on a part-time seasonal basis. May until Mid September.
The hours:
• Friday 9am–5pm
• Saturday 9am–1pm
• Monday 9am–5pm
(20 hours per week, fixed days)
