Clean Seal's are happy Seal's

🐾 As we come in to autumn and winter, we expect to care for around in excess of 100 seals at our wildlife hospital.

We see such an influx in the colder months because grey seals come ashore at this time of year to give birth. They also haul out on beaches, rocks, slipways to rest so this is not an unusual sight.

If you spot a grey seal, you should keep a safe distance to not cause them any undue stress.

We often hear of seals being frightened back in to the water by dogs, so please remember to keep any canine companions on a lead around wildlife.

If you see a seal pup with a white coat on a public beach with no sign of other seals or it’s mother, please contact our animal helpline as, chances are, they are in trouble and need our attention.

If you see a seal pup that appears healthy, please leave them well alone as they will use their natural instinct to find their way back to the water.

If you are unsure whether a seal needs our help, please monitor them from a safe distance.

If the animal has any visible signs of injury, looks generally unwell, or has been out of the water for 12-24 hours please contact our helpline on 03000 999 999 for advice.

Happy post! Scrabble who we released 4 months ago who was brought from .stapeleygrange has been seen! He was doing the standard bannana pose. Scrabble has one eye due to an injury he had but not to worry as seals use their whiskers to hunt and are apex predators around our waters. Thank you Tiffany for sharing the photo!
