This week we’ve been restoring this viscose and wool rug after it was unfortunately damaged by poor cleaning before it came to us.
Viscose is a beautiful fibre, but it’s also very delicate. If too much moisture, heat or agitation is used, the fibre can swell, distort and lose its natural sheen. Once that happens, the rug can start to look patchy, dull or “watermarked” — even though it’s technically clean.
At Clean Tech, we’re Norfolk’s only WoolSafe-approved service provider, which means we understand how different fibres behave and how to treat them safely.
In the photo, the shiny, lighter area at the top shows how this rug is meant to look. The darker, flatter areas show where previous cleaning had damaged the fibres. With careful work and a bit of Clean Tech know-how, the rug is already halfway through its restoration and starting to regain its original look.
