💚 YOUR VOICE MATTERS — HELP MAKE PERINATAL CARE SAFER

At Canterbury Road Laundrette, we believe that caring for our community goes beyond laundry. It means looking out for one another, listening without judgement, and helping people find support when they need it.

Today, we want to share an important message.

About a national safety investigation into preventing perinatal mental health deaths, focusing on recognition, access to support and the experiences of those affected.

Pregnancy and becoming a parent can bring moments of great joy, but they can also bring emotional challenges that are not always visible to others.

Behind a smile, a busy day or the everyday routine of caring for a new baby, someone may be struggling in ways we cannot see.

💚 Why does this investigation matter?

Because recognising when a woman is struggling, listening to her concerns and helping her access the right support can make a difference.

Patients, families, carers, and health and care professionals with relevant experiences or insights are invited to share them as part of this investigation.

Perhaps you have experienced difficulties accessing perinatal mental health support. Perhaps you have supported a loved one through a difficult time, or you have professional experience that could help identify where care needs to improve.

Your experience may help inform learning and make care safer for other families.

“Support Doesn’t Always Look Like Support”
During pregnancy and early motherhood, support can come from the most unexpected places.

You may think you need to speak to a midwife, health visitor, GP or therapist. But sometimes you just need someone to notice, listen, ask, or connect you with the right person.
That could be:
- A conversation while doing the laundry.
- A friend who notices you're not yourself.
- A colleague who says, “You don't have to carry this alone.”
- A community organisation that knows where to signpost you.
- Another mother who says, “I felt exactly like this.”
- A coach who helps you make sense of the competing demands of motherhood, identity and leadership.

You might come into the laundrette to wash baby clothes. You might leave having had a conversation that you didn't know you needed.
Pregnancy, the perinatal or postnatal period, can be isolating, but support doesn't always arrive through the front door of a clinic. Sometimes it starts with a conversation in the community.

❤️ End-of-Day Gratitude: Thank You, Halfords Kidderminster! 🚲

What started as a beautiful day, happily sailing down Bewdley Hill, suddenly came to an abrupt stop… BANG! Flat tyre! 😅🚲

There was nothing for it but to drag the bicycle back to Halfords. At this rate, I might as well pitch a tent there and make it my second home! 😂⛺

But honestly, behind every little setback, there are people who make the day that much better.

The team at Halfords Kidderminster are always smiling, welcoming, and ready to help get me back on my bike. Their kindness and willingness to help never go unnoticed.

From all of us at Canterbury Road Laundrette, thank you for looking after me and helping keep our little cycling adventure going. 💚

Sometimes gratitude isn't about grand gestures. It's about the people who show up, offer a helping hand, and send you back on your way with a smile.

🐴❤️ When Laundry Day Comes with a Little Horsepower! 🐶

You never quite know who might pop by Canterbury Road Laundrette! 🥰

This week, we had the pleasure of welcoming one of our lovely customers who arrived with his beautiful horse, Dolly, her carriage, and an adorable little puppy. What a wonderful sight!

And guess what we learnt? Dolly loves a carrot sandwich! 🥕😂 Who knew a horse could have such a special favourite? Next time you see Dolly, you all know what she likes- I have told you all.

These are the little moments that make our laundrette more than just a place to wash clothes. It's about the people we meet, the stories we share, the animals we get to meet, and the smiles that stay with us long after the laundry is done.

A heartfelt thank you to our customer for bringing Dolly and his lovely puppy along and, of course, for trusting us with your laundry. 💚

Now, here's a thought… 👀
