First batch of Cluster fly. The thorax has a distinctive dark greyish/olive colour with golden hairs. The abdomen has a checkered pattern. The wings at rest are folded tightly. No real pest status apart from their ability to build up to huge numbers in the winter months when they 'hibernate' in buildings in their hundreds or thousands.
