One of the most common misconceptions we hear is:
“A ceramic coating is a ceramic coating.”
In reality, there are different levels of ceramic coatings available — from consumer-grade products designed for enthusiasts and DIY installation, through to professional-only coating systems available exclusively through accredited installers.
At JRC Detailing, we are accredited to install CARPRO professional-grade coatings including:
• DQUARTZ Professional
• CQUARTZ Finest Reserve
• CQUARTZ Professional
These differ from consumer-grade CARPRO products such as:
• CQUARTZ UK 3.0
• DQUARTZ GO
• CQUARTZ Lite
This doesn’t mean consumer coatings are poor products — far from it. Products such as UK 3.0 are highly respected within the detailing industry and can deliver excellent results when properly maintained.
The key difference is in the chemistry, durability potential, installation process, and overall performance characteristics.
Professional-grade coatings are designed with:
• Increased chemical resistance
• Improved environmental durability
• More advanced curing behaviour
• Enhanced long-term performance potential
Because of this, they are also significantly more installation-sensitive and require:
• Extensive paint preparation
• Machine polishing and refinement
• Controlled installation conditions
• Specialist lighting and inspection
• Product-specific installation knowledge
This is why manufacturers such as CARPRO restrict these coatings to accredited installers only.
When customers invest in a professional ceramic coating installation, they are not simply paying for a bottle of product. They are investing in the preparation, correction work, installation standards, experience, and environment required to install these systems correctly.
JRC Detailing at the moment is the only accredited CARPRO professional installer in the North East of Scotland offering these specific professional-grade coating systems.
We believe it’s important for customers to understand the differences between consumer and professional-grade ceramic coatings so they can make an informed decision about the level of protection and service they choose for their vehicle.
