🪲 Creepy and crawling!
We were recently called out after a customer discovered marks on their skin that they thought could be bed bug bites.
After carrying out a thorough inspection, we found no evidence of bed bugs. What we did find, however, was a high level of carpet beetle larvae around the property.
Carpet beetle larvae don’t bite, but their tiny hairs can cause skin irritation, itching and red marks, which can sometimes be mistaken for insect bites.
Treatment carried out:
• Thorough vacuuming of the affected areas to remove larvae, hairs and debris
• Residual insecticide treatment applied to cracks, crevices and other harbourage areas
• Advice provided to the customer on cleaning and reducing the risk of further activity
Correct identification is essential. What looks like a bed bug problem can sometimes have a completely different cause — and needs a different treatment approach.
