I Ceramic Coated my Fuel Tank!!

Yes - you saw that right.
As part of the underside restoration of my Focus RS
I removed the fuel tank to gain access to the underside. The tank looked like it had lived under the sea!
So I gave it a full deep clean and decontamination.
And then… yes I ceramic coated my fuel tank.
You may not see this. But I know it’s there…

Detailing is just about making a car’s paintwork shiny and hoovering a car out and putting fancy stripes in a carpet.

Detailing is going above and beyond, doing bits that people don’t see..

Another headlight restoration carried out.

It’s important this time of the year that your headlights are free from hazing as this will reduce the output of your headlights during these darker months.

It’s also MOT failure too!

Not often I get on the tools anymore. But when a friend of mine said fancy trying to restore my 25year old Porsche headlights. Who was I to decline that offer.

My other half came home at the weekend and said.

“you might need to work your magic on my car, I’ve hit a branch”

Needless to say 15minutes later, what scratch thankfully this didn’t take the paint off and was able to be machine polished out. Re-coated that area. You’d never know.

Forgot to share this!
Just before I went on holiday I gave a regular customers Sapphire Cosworth an enhancement level machine polish.
Sadly at some point had a poor respray (most likely when these cars were worthless)
So the paint just would not play ball. We managed to lose a lot of the deep marks and hazing to the paintwork but sadly on this occasion we struggled to achieve what we wanted to achieve.

So we spent more effort on other areas of the car to uplift it. As a few days after, it was on track being abused 😉.

Sometimes things don’t go as planned but being transparent with your customers and showing what can be achieved you’re always going to be happy.
3 down for this customer, one more to go, and I can’t wait for that one 😎.

Audi A1

One of our family members used me a a short stay airport parking with private transfers and a free overnight stay 🤣. In return she left her slightly dirty Audi A1 with me.
After a week of looking at it filthy, I had to do something about it.

Car had a full in-depth deep clean.
Wheels required a mixture of Acid wheel cleaners and fallout remover to removed the baked on brake dust.
Paintwork was treated to a polish by hand and finished with a detailing sealant to the paintwork.
Glass had a rain repellant applied.
Interior was cleaned, and all areas covered with foundation returned back to its natural state.
We didn’t have time to wet vac the seats or matts so what you can see is actually staining and not missed area’s.
We also cleaned under the bonnet which is one of my favorites to do

Now it’s ready for collection.

Es**rt RS2000

After what feels like forever, I finally got my hands on my father in laws RS2000.

The plan was to tart it up a little bit and make it easy to maintain. As this car is regularly used.

Carried out full wash process.
Single stage machine polish to the 2pack paintwork. Some areas still had sanding and flatting signs from its last trip to the body shop.
Restored around 90% of the paintwork and bought back that deep shine an Old Ford Red has.

Finished that of course with a ceramic coating to lock in the work we’ve done and make the car easy to maintain going forward.
Let’s be honest here, it’s me that cleans it anyway 😂. Not bad for around 7 hours worth of work 😅

You’ll have to agree, they don’t make them like they used to 😍

More Focus RS spam

Took some time this weekend to have a ‘fettle’

That fettle became the whole interior coming out, carpets cleaned, and wet vacuumed removing 22+ years of dirt and dust.

The seat runners cleaned painted where needed and refitted.
The seat base tilt for the drivers seat wire wooled to remove surface rusting.
All interior plastics which had faded were ceramic coated.
Finally there’s a sound deadening on the bulkhead this was faded, so we dyed it ☺️.

Now 90% of people won’t notice these small things day to day. But those who do, will appreciate this.

Polishing a car is all about a process come away from the process and you’ll expect the results to differ.

Every section I polish is always done in a process of 6 passes, wipe down inspect and go again. Ensuring I always achieve the desired finish.

Now, I’m far from a digital creator, but here’s 7 seconds of my tried and tested process, on my 22year old Focus.
What’s the saying, Can’t polish a turd…
Turns out, I can 😅.

More progress completed on the RS project. This time;
A rub down and repaint of the front crash bar. No one sees this but it had a few crusty bits.
Rubbed down and repainted the Airtec charge cooler intercooler.
Removed slam panel, rubbed down the one or two little parts and repainted.
Replacement stickers are on order and to replace what I’ve had to remove.

Soon as a new Air condition condenser gets here i can try and remember how it all goes back together 😅.

Then it needs cleaning/detailing.
