What you see on the surface is rarely the whole story when it comes to classic vehicle restoration.

Swipe to see the difference a bit of proper workshop investigation makes. We have this project up on the lift, and while a panel might look salvageable from a distance, cutting away the old sections frequently uncovers hidden, structural rust underneath. Moisture loves to sit in these chassis rails and box sections, slowly eating away at the metal from the inside out.

Our job is to dig out every single bit of that corrosion, prep the remaining area back to perfectly clean steel, and fabricate a fresh repair section. It is a time-consuming process that requires a lot of patience, but cutting out the rot completely is the only way to build a solid foundation before any paint can be applied.

We have a bit of a different view from the workshop today, putting a face to the business with Stuart suited up, masked up, and ready to head into the booth. As the owner of Sussex Bodyworks, Stuart is the man behind the meticulous standards, the long hours, and the commitment to ensuring every single vehicle leaves us looking absolutely flawless. Running a busy body shop means spinning a lot of plates, but getting into the kit and getting the spray gun in hand is still where the real passion is.

It might look like a serious bit of gear for a selfie, but this level of discipline is exactly what it takes to guarantee those sharp, factory-perfect finishes. Cutting corners on safety, cleanliness, or technique simply isn't an option when your name is on the door.
