Today’s topic is …

The 4 ‘D’s

Delete

Some emails & notifications can be deleted immediately leaving only the items that require action or attention.

Do it now

If you have an urgent task, email or notification that can be done quickly, do it now !
🌟

Defer

Add a task to your ‘to do’ list & place the items on the list in order of priority.
🌟

Delegate

Consider delegating a task to someone else if it does not have to be completed by yourself. Be mindful though as you may still be responsible for ensuring the task is completed.

The art of Time Management is the use of different methods of managing your time that can be incorporated into daily home or working life in order to complete tasks efficiently & within deadlines

Over the coming posts, various areas of time management will be covered.

Todays topic is …

Time Management Styles

The Hopper - jumps from task to task, multi-tasking with several projects on the go. Can run the risk of missing deadlines & not completing several tasks

Perfectionist - focused on details producing flawless work which can result in fewer tasks being completed

The Impulsive - can deal with problems as they arrive & reacts quickly to changes in circumstances. Lacks planning & long term strategy

The Early Starter - tasks started well before deadline, creating detailed list for greater productivity & finishing ahead of time. Can be inflexible

The Helper - always willing to help everyone else but can fail to manage their own workload effectively

How will you shop for Christmas this year?
In these days of consumerism - Black Friday week, Cyber Monday, etc - it is too easy to over buy or forget the true reasons behind gifting 🎁
Here are a few ideas for Mindful shopping this festive season which will bring both the recipient (and the giver) joy 🥰
🌟 Give memories - days out, theatre tickets, experiences
🌟Give time - offer to babysit, help with gardening or decorating
🌟 Buy second hand - Antiques shops or a selling site can provide items that are still in good condition just ‘new to you’
🌟 Upcycle - use items you already have and re-gift them
🌟Make - a handcrafted item contains a piece of you in every item
🌟 Ethical - buy organic or Fairtrade
🌟 Buy - you can still make a thoughtful purchase if you buy local and from small businesses.

There are many small businesses offering not only gifts or gift vouchers but also special food for your Christmas table. Check out your local butchers, greengrocers and delis who may also have a Christmas club to spread the cost

Prioritising tasks into 4 categories will help keep to deadlines and the list can assist motivation. This process can be used at work or at home for any task - Housework, emails, post sorting, organising & de-cluttering.

Take the stress out of de-cluttering by following a few simple tips…
🌟 Choose an area - wardrobe, chest of drawers, shoe cupboard or even a kitchen drawer. Keep it small & manageable.
🌟 Set a goal - either set a time limit or until completion of the chosen area.
🌟 Empty and sort - start to make piles of items to keep, donate, recycle, mend and discard
🌟 Clean and organise - clean the area using your favourite cleaning product and return the items being kept.
🌟And the final steps …
Recycle items in the recycling bin
Discard items in the rubbish bin
Donate items via FB or place in a bag remembering to plan a visit to a charity shop.
Set aside time to mend any items.
