The perfect example of how hedgehog gutter spikes can create an ecosystem of its own…

Hedgehog gutter spikes are designed to stop moss etc from falling onto your lawn etc…

However…

They need near constant maintenance.

As they come in length; overtime the accumulation of moss etc being left in the spikes along with the weather allows them to grow what is pictured below…

The simplest and regrettably the messiest solution is to simply pull it out of the guttering…

However caution is advised ⚠️⚠️⚠️

As the weight of these can pull down guttering if yanked too hard and the accumulative weight can even bring guttering down on its own!!

So just be careful if you decide to take it down or failing that let someone else you trust do it.

Just be prepared for a clean up afterwards…
