Not only detailing and valeting but also dealing with things such as water ingress.

A vauxhall meriva was brought into us to identify and remedy the source of the leak that had subsequently filled the front passenger footwell. After several tests and plenty of interior removal, we identified 4 separate areas where water was making its way inside the vehicle.

The first culprit was found to be the passenger side front sunroof drain, being routed inside the vehicle body we gained access and upon removal found the pipe to be sealed shut with debris and build up. Modifying the pipe to prevent reoccurrence, reinstalled and tested confirmed the repair. We repeated the process on the other side too although this side was not yet blocked.

The vehicle boot floor was also collecting water, soon realising once the debris had been removed from the boot shut and water was free flowing as it should, the rate at which the water entered became greater too, this was due to three main areas, the corrugated piping that joins the wiring from the body to the boot lid, the upper fixing behind the passenger rear light & the main gasket for the light units wiring also. Renewing the gasket materials and applying a sealant to the piping cured the ingress and kept costs to a minimum.

With the carpets removed and drained of the filthy water, a shampoo and hoover before refit will leave it fresh and dry. Another case of why prevention is better than cure, a cleaned and well maintained car will not have these issues if cared for correctly.

Catering for all types of vehicles here at LJ Auto Care, this is something a little bit more exciting, a clubsport spec E46 3 series with a few subtle yet redefining modifications 👀.

It was brought to us in quite a sorry state after having undergone many changes and upgrades throughout the year with only being given a quick rinse in-between garage appointments and storage.

We were pleasantly surprised at the already great condition of the vehicle beneath the dirt. However, due to its stints on track, brake dust and rubber had built up along the lower flanks of the car, this was dealt with chemically without the need for correction and machine work.

The interior although minimal, is quite the challenging space for access to clean the glass and hoover the rear false floor, the best option we found was to lay flat inside the boot, which is quite uncomfortable to say the least! Allowing access to the rear footwells too which would otherwise prove difficult due to the fixed seat locations.

Restoring lustre to the paint with a gloss enhancing paint sealant, polishing the glass inside and out and the wheels being coated in the same product as the bodywork, with all plastics being treated to BMW genuine plastic restorer, keeping this beautiful example looking it's best, for longer.

This little Jazz was brought to us with the request of a general tidy up on the inside, and a machine polish.

Consisting of a thorough wash including the arches , doors and boot shuts, algae/contamination removal, an interior valet and a 2 stage machine polish. Worth the mention that no dressings or finishing products of any kind could be used due to a paint repair appointment.

Whilst it was not a full paint correction, the end results speak for themselves. Unveiling the true metallic finish of the paint and restoring the depth of colour too, reversing the adverse effects improper washing and typical weathering and aging that years of usage causes.

The interior was a general wipe down and hoover throughout, with both the inside and outside glass being polished too. Paying attention to the more ground in dirt and built up areas with the floor mats and seats being given a dry shampoo also.(Advised of requiring wet vac when the weather is suitable).

Another one from the archive photos today, coincidentally another Alpina too, this time a D3BT Touring, a very well loved car, returned to its former glory, also an LJ Autocare personal favourite.

After many miles of driving, hours of usage for camping trips and repeat washing this beauty was starting to look tired, and had become increasingly difficult to keep clean due to the vehicle condition.

Undergoing a thorough decontamination wash to remove build up from all areas and fallout deposits from the paint we moved onto the wheels. Having such tight faces made cleaning of the inner dish difficult, to ensure the best results we opted to remove them from the vehicle. Gaining access to the rears of the wheels and inside the unique centre cap cover, thus allowing further access into the arches and around the caliper assembly too.

The interior had also seen its fair share of usage with the footwells, carpet mats and door cards taking the brunt of the dirt. Being a family with a fur baby pooch , the usual of paw prints , pet hair and sand etc was also removed from the rear luggage space and seating areas. The leather was cleaned with upholstery shampoo and then treated with a conditioner ensuring protection and longevity of the leather.along with the interior glass being polished and surfaces cleaned the inside was back to showroom conditions.

Being gloss black, the paint shows every imperfection and blemish like a pane of glass, combined with the subtle yet striking decals on the side it was clear it required a detail masking procedure before the paint correction and paint protection could proceed. A 2 stage correction was carried out with localised chips, scratches and blemishes being addressed along the way.

Another one from last week, this time a Volvo XC90. As with the Alpina previously, this vehicle has been utilised throughout the year performing a variety of tasks that you'd expect of an SUV this size.

After a thorough wash , the vehicle was found to be in exceptional condition underneath the road grime, the wheels presented some stubbornness but we don't give up and we're sure you'll agree, the results are fantastic.

The interior had seen it's fair share of family duties and was starting to lose that 'new car feel', with the leather becoming tired and having chewing gum stuck on the seat! Coupled with the boot being reserved for the family pooch, there was certainly plenty to get stuck into.

Starting with a thorough vacuum and dust down of all interior surfaces, removing pet hair and debris before moving onto a gentle interior shampoo to freshen the interior space leaving a truly clean finish. The leather in this vehicle has also been treated to a shampoo and a moisturising balm, ensuring it stays supple and protected for the usage ahead.

To tie it all together a paint sealant was applied and the glass polished to make this Volvo shine bright once again, with many more miles of happy motoring to come.

Thank you to everyone who has popped by and said hello during our opening week, it is very much appreciated 😁👍.

Although the temperatures and the weather have been challenging, the jobs keep coming through and seeing the satisfaction of the customers upon handover is what makes it all so worth it.

This week has been a mixed bag of vehicles and work required, one of which is this beautiful example, an Alpina D5S. Having been enjoyed daily throughout the last few months the owner sought our services to not only remove the build up and clean the vehicle, but to protect it for longevity and ease of maintenance moving forward.

Once the vehicle had been thoroughly washed and dried a true inspection of the paint condition could begin. Other than a few spots of tar on the skirts and doors, it was in overall good condition barring surface swirls and fade due to repeat washing.

We opted for a single stage correction of the paint, returning the gloss and doing away with any slight imperfections, thus allowing the new layer of paint protection to adhere and seal correctly. Painstakingly detail masking the pinstripe decals on the side and front bumper skirt was a necessity to prevent any incidental damage or wear from the process' carried out.

The wheels had been allowed to rest with brake dust and other contaminants etching into the paint surface just behind the wheel face, the wheels were removed & cleaned with three different products to achieve the end result.

Like the exterior, the interior was in need of a good refresh from the daily use. Once the interior had been thoroughly vaccuumed and hard surfaces cleaned, the carpets and mats using foam shampoo and the leather was treated to soften and protect from UV rays and stains.

The car once again looks fantastic and will be protected for the remainder of the winter and into the year to come.

Safety, visibility & clarity.

Headlight lenses take the brunt of the weathering on the front of the vehicle , and countless hours of heat from the bulbs and cycles of wet and dry weather take their toll on the condition of the lamps.

The grey e46 was starting to lose visibility in low light conditions and was in need of a refresh.

The pepper white mini had been advised on its m.o.t due to reduced light output.

Not only does a refreshed set of lights remove aging from the vehicle, it helps you see the road and others to see you more clearly. Ensuring safety and peace of mind.

Another one from the personal archives.

We would love to take the entire credit for the overall condition of this particular E46 ... But for a 21 year old car with near enough entirely original paint it's owner has done a fantastic and thorough job of keeping this vehicle looking it's best in every way.

Although years of routine washing kept it presentable, it had started to lose its gloss and kerb appeal due to surface marring and swirls from grit, contamination and bird lime.

A quick discussion with the owner made their passion clear and due to the incredible standard of the vehicle already, only a machine polish and a general tidy was required to return this vehicle back to its best.

Red always comes up well but this one is definitely a personal favourite.
