🛑 Do you live in social housing? You need to know about Awaab’s Law.
From 27 October 2025, social landlords must act fast when you report dangerous issues at home. Under Awaab’s Law:
Emergency hazards (like dangerous leaks, structural risks, severe damp or mould) must be investigated and made safe within 24 hours.
Significant damp or mould hazards must be examined within 10 working days, with repairs started within 5 working days and tenants given a written summary within 3 working days of inspection.
If the home can’t be made safe quickly, landlords must provide alternative accommodation until it is.
This law exists because of the tragic death of a child whose family home had dangerous mould — and means social landlords are now legally responsible for making sure your home is safe and healthy.
👉 If you or someone you know is living with damp, mould, structural or safety hazards in social housing: report it immediately, and know you have a legal right to a safe home.
