Now is the time to check chimneys prior to needing to use them, Jackdaws love to nest in chimneys, young should have fledged so get this important autumn check done.
Where possible remove items from around the base of the house, even plant pots, rodents will use these as covered runs.
Cut back climbing vines, over hanging tree branches from near your roof and guttering, vegetation can be used as a ladder, deny easy access, dont be woken by the pitter patter of rodents moving into your loft.
As part of your home autumn checks, take a look at your airbricks, especially the modern plastic type, check for damage, these are easily gnawed through, particularly if they have pots, bikes etc covering them, don't make it easy for rodents.
Most people love to feed the birds, try and position bird feeders away from the home, bottom of the garden is best, also an upturned plastic bin lid suspended by chains, under the feeder as a catch all, small birds can still pick up these crumbs. Little and often for wild birds, over do the feed and the sewer dwellers will pop up and make a home in your garden.
Excess tip run items in the garden, this is often used as a habitat by rodents, remove any bulk rubbish items.
Enjoy a trouble feel season change
