We’ve completed our wildlife / farm pond just in time, rain was quick to fill it just after excavations were complete. This is about 1 acre and 3-4m deep in the centre, no liner required as it sits in a naturally low point that gathers water anyway. To be surrounded with native marginal aquatic plants and further tree planting, this pond will improve the biodiversity of this farm, and if ever needed in Scotland, a valuable water storage facility! Oak jetty incase the clients want a dip too! (Once the water clears up)

Big wildlife pond / lochan started in Stirlingshire. First task is removing topsoil as it’s always an asset on any site, it’ll be re applied over the new bund/landform that retains the wildlife pond. This one is an earth lined pond, gentle 1:3 slopes all round and a depth of 3m plus in centre are critical to it’s future success as a self sustaining pond. We’ve also had to divert a 100m length of stream to make room for the bund, which involved a great deal of paperwork attaining Sepa licences. This pond is part of the farms move toward biodiversity and a potential emergency water supply for the future after what we saw down south this year. It may have a floating island added in the future too.

Intricate lining work underway with EPDM rubber from Gordon Low Products | SealEco UK Ltd in this collaborative project with AMPERSAND Landscape Construction Specialists Ltd who are creating the structure and the stunning stonework, Tracy McQue overseeing the overall design of the site Lots more exciting work to do here which is taking us all to the limits of our imaginations and testing our capabilities. What you see here is the stepping stone path which floats over the lower pond then cuts through the next “infinity” pond as it trickles down the stone wall, it’s going to look incredible. RGC Fabrication doing the steelwork to allow infinity pond edges to be built.

Simple swim pond built two summers ago, our remit included managing the level change in the garden close to the house, Tradstocks Westwood supplied these stunning Scottish whin steps and whin paving to surround the pool. Helen Lucas Architects designed the extensions to the house, relating well with our pool. Calum Gordon

Full landscape project completed earlier this summer. A very boring bank of lawn before, we re-shaped it around our newly built stream and pond, so that the landscape related to the water, added some boulder outcrops, water, planting.

Our East Lothian swim pond, settling in, a year old now. As part of a much huger landscape project round a new house it’s still going to be a while before it’s all landscaped and planted around the perimeter and I can’t wait to see the Scot’s pine on the island (if we can figure out who’s going to water it while it’s young). In the meantime it’s a good plunge pool for everyone on site when it’s hot Working with the great Tracy McQue and AMPERSAND Landscape Construction Specialists Ltd to create this amazing landscape.
