Back in 2023 I was told I had dementia, which on top of two heart conditions, one called ventricular ectopic beats and the other being supraventricular ectopy and suffering from chronic migraine and suffering strokes costing me the sight in my right eye, I’ve also been told I have chronic cerebral infarcts which is where the brain is starved of oxygen and dies in places due to my migraines.
6 years ago I had the first of two catheter ablations which is where the inside of a chamber of the heart is burnt to prevent additional heart beats occurring in my case it was 44,000 extra beats a day. Having two of those operations has caused damage to my heart unfortunately.
In essence I’m struggling to deal with all of those things to the extent where my neurological team at the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery has put me on the list for a procedure called ‘occipital nerve stimulation’. This is where an appliance is stitched onto the brain stem and a battery is placed in a pocket in the chest. This is something that means I can’t any longer do my woodcrafting as the noise is too much for my migraines. To date I’ve been using ear defenders, but they no longer help, so I going this form of procedure and still causing excessive noise to my brain would be stupid in the extreme.
So, with us not selling our house just yet and with my operation planned for 2027, we aren’t moving further up the country yet, so I’m still working as one the counties most experienced and professional carpet and upholstery cleaners.
You can still book cleans with me, however, I’m not travelling any further than Sittingbourne to the east and Gravesend to the west of where I live in Gillingham and Maidstone to the south.
I do hope those of you whom I told I was retiring soon will continue to use me and understand my health is no longer under my control.
