Helpful tips to prepare for winter.
Now is the time when the rain falls to take a good look around the inside your conservatory roof internally to see if you have any leaks. The hot weather can split previous repairs or installation silicone etc.
Where to check? On the floor is always a good place to start to see if you have any puddles. Then look up to see if you have any run marks on the internal glazing bars. While looking up take a look to see if any of the roof sheets have slipped by seeing daylight. Check at the bottom of the windows on the internal window boards for any puddles. If you have a box gutter check at each end of the gutter and any joints to see if there are any drips or drip stains. Any roof openers that have green corners etc, this could be a leaks getting worse. Any property pipes that go through the roof check the surrounding areas.
How can you prevent issues this Autumn/Winter? Check that the gutters and down pipes are all clear, check the house gutters and down pipes above the conservatory are clear (property overflow is a big problem). Check that all the roof sheets are in line with the guttering, if not then a roof sheet could have slipped. Check that the ridge finials and crown look as though they are all sitting level and correctly. Check to see if the flashing that is against the property does not look as though there are any gaps. Check Excessive moss on the property roof could be an issue later in the year for gutter flow.
Once you have checked all of the possible issues ahead for the winter you should be fine unless there are high winds etc then its best to keep a regular check at these locations.
