Rug cleaning from yesterday (during the cleaning process). Embedded dirt built up over the last 5 years. Although this can be treated, it isn't recommended to wait so long for treatment as this degrades the carpet fibre. A yearly clean at least is the industrial recommendation. You wouldn't leave your kitchen floor that long, so why your carpet, rug or upholstery? Regular maintenance removes dirt and bacteria.
