It’s with Such Sadness that my First visit to the Isle of Lewis with my Wife was under such tragic circumstances due to the loss of a true Friend in Douglas Craigie and all hands onboard Crab Vessel the Kilda
An Island Community in Mourning alongwith many others from the Nationwide Fishing Industry yesterday came together to grieve ,support each other , remember and pay they’re respects in memory of Douglas and his 2 Crew members in the 2 Churches and the Community Hall in they re lovely township of Carloway
Although I never had the pleasure to meet the 2 respected Crew members whom by all accounts also carry so much Love and Respect within they’re Island we Hope and Pray they shall be recovered and brought home to they’re beloved families and the Close knit Island Community .
Douglas was a Free Spirit and a Loving Family Man whom leaves behind a void which only time will help to heal to a Hurting ,Loving and Beautiful Family whom shall never forget the man whom protected them and strived for a better future for them as well as for many others within his circle
Douglas is a Self Made Hard Working and Respected Fisherman revered for his achievements within the Industry of which he loved to work in since his days at school
A true friend to Many whom I was Fortunate to occasionally meet at the annual Fishing Exhibitions with his fellow Island Fishermen and Friends of whom I was Privileged to have known Douglas and have as a Friend whom genuinely touched me and brought much laughter and cheer each time we met up on the PBP Stand to enjoy a refreshment together at the end of each day
Douglas was A Man amongst Men on his Island always Caring ,Hard Working and always Respectful and Accomodating to others with Great Knowledge of his Profession and Sincerity in all he did ,
Let’s Pray for comfort to his Hurting Family and Friends in the difficult and trying times ahead
Douglas Craigie you shall never be forgotten and may You Rest in Peace

PBP Services / Assured Marine have successfully applied Fuel Saving Propeller coating to Vessel number 16 the Artic Voyager Pelagic Trawler up in the Faroe Islands following positive feedback from our UK Customers using the tried and tested application whom are achieving from 4 to 8 percent fuel savings on the soon to be patented product
A Huge Thanks to our long standing friends at Mest Shipyards in Faroe Islands for Accommodating us and the Help given to Myself and my Son Jonathan while carrying out the works
Also Huge Thanks to the Crew and Owners of Artic Voyager whom took us up to the Faroes this week following our works a few months ago in Fraserburgh Scotland where we carried out 10 week Refit including all Shipyard Services and blast cleaning and fully painting the Vessel from top of Masts to Waterline along with the 12 x RSW Tanks and all below deck works

PBP and PFW recently carried out a Major refit to Gary Leask s Kestrel LK 268 which was changed to a multi purpose Scallop / Fish Trawler which has left the Owner Delighted following initial Fishing Trips where Gary’s Design and thoughts have came into they’re own after successful fishing trips due to the ease of handling the gear and catch due to the ease of operating the vessel on His Own
The 22 year old G10 Cat of which PBP now owns the Mold for along with another 8 Molds has stood up remarkably well for her age and is testament to original Designer and Builder Andrew Craig
The works were carefully planed and methodically implemented in order to deliver efficiently and to the Highest of Quality Standards
PBPs works included vapour blasting the hull back to original gel coat and Fibre Glass Laying up the Scallop dredge and Trawl areas along with various other Fibreglass alterations and repairs before fully gel coating and top coating Also Wheelhouse and Accomodation Refitting and finishing works carried out by our Laminaters and joiners
PFW manufactured and installed Scotch Pole Scallop Gantry’s and all other Steelworks were done in 316 Stainless steel by they’re team of experienced Coded Welders
Thanks also to Ian McLeod Naval Architect for Drawings and Design Works and also to SCMS for final Inspection and Certifications

⚓️ EXCITING NEWS — PBP SERVICES & ASSURED MARINE ⚓️

We are delighted to announce our new partnership with Assured Marine, with PBP Services appointed as the exclusive applicator in Scotland of their specialist high-performance propeller treatment.

Before putting the PBP Services name behind any new product, we wanted to see the results for ourselves.

Following years of scientific development and more than a year of successful operation on working fishing vessels on the South Coast of England, over recent months we have also applied the treatment to around 12 of our Scottish customers’ vessels in real operating conditions.

The feedback and results we’ve received have given us the confidence to now bring this specialist service to the wider market.

⛽ Ocean Endeavour — reported fuel savings of around 8% on its first few trips, equating to more than £3,000 per trip.

⛽ Harvest Hope — reported fuel savings in the region of 4%, together with improved steaming speed.

⛽ Crystal Sea SS 118 — reported fuel savings of around 4–5% over 13 months, approximately 400 litres per week.
