Laundry myth ❌

Hotter water, better cleaning power

Contrary to what was believed & was possibly true years ago, hot water won’t necessarily get clothes cleaner today as modern detergents have been designed to work just as well, if not better in cold water…
Hot water can in fact damage some fabrics or cause some stains to become permanent instead of being removed . Always follow the fabric care label.

Back to School Wash Tips…Cotton School Shirts…Keeping Your Whites White….
Cotton is always the best choice for children. Natural, Breathable and free from those nasty PFAS forever chemicals…it’s also one of the most durable and easy to keep white….
To keep white cotton bright and prevent yellowing, always wash whites in a separate load using the correct amount of detergent to avoid residue… this is a case of less is more…. Extra soap leaves a film that traps dirt and turns fabric grey or yellow. Add boosters if you need to such as half a cup of baking soda into the drum with your regular detergent, this naturally lifts oils and whitens cotton.
Thoroughly Rinse clean: Add white vinegar to your machine’s rinse cycle to dissolve leftover soap and hard water minerals…

During these summer holidays, why not bring the kids along to do the laundry.
A study at Birmingham University found that 60% of teens heading to Uni didn’t know how to do laundry**….
Life skills are so important and often overlooked in favour of academia…. It’s really quick to wash and dry at our launderette …on average less than an hour for up to 5 loads in one machine…so no real time for them to get bored. Pop in and teach them a little life skill this holiday.

It’s Cowes Week once again & the Solent is brimming with sails…. Back in the 1600s laundry day aboard a ship comprised often of dragging the laundry in a huge net bag behind the ship to agitate them & hanging them along the rigging to dry….. what a sight to behold…. And what a huge job…..Thankfully washing and drying in our local launderette using one of our super extra large 5 load machines takes on average around an hour….. and clothes don’t come out in salt patches….
