SODIUM HYPOCHLORITE AND THE POISONS ACT OF 1972

Due to an update to the Poisons Act, from 1st October 2023 Sodium Hypochlorite of 6% strength or more will be classed as a reportable substance.

Our Sodium Hypochlorite (Liquid Chlorine) is 14/15% so falls into this category.

Members of the public wishing to purchase Sodium Hypochlorite after 1st October will need an EPP licence. This licence will have to be produced along with Photo ID at every transaction, and as this is law, there will be no exceptions.

You can apply for an EPP licence on the .GOV website, they are £39.50 and last for up to three years, please see the link below.

With energy prices as they are these days, we need as much help as we can get in trying to conserve energy when running our pools.

Solar Shield from Blue Horizons is a Liquid Solar Cover aimed squarely at the domestic market. It works by forming a monomolecular layer (just one single molecule thick) across the surface of the water, this increases the surface tension of the water and helps to suppress evaporation. Given 90+ percent of all pool heat is lost from the pool surface, this can result in large reductions in heat energy lost.

Simply dose the required amount of Solar Shield into the pool on a monthly basis, and enjoy the cost savings.

This Saturday the 6th of May is the Coronation of King Charles III.

For this one Saturday only, our shop will open early from 8.00am and close early at 10.30am to allow our staff to head home and watch the ceremony.

Please note as it's a bank holiday, we will be closed on Sunday 7th and Monday 8th May.

The following Saturday 13th May will revert to our normal Saturday hours of 9.00am to 12.30pm.

IMPORTANT! hth Granufast and hth Granufast Action 5 Dose Rates.

It has come to our attention that the dose rates on hth Granufast and hth Granufast Action 5 products is potentially incorrect.

As you possibly know, the hth brand has replaced the Fi-Clor brand in the UK.

The dose rate on the outgoing Fi-Clor Stabilised Chlorine Granules and Premium 5 Granules products was 90g of chlorine granules in 50m3 of pool water to increase the chlorine residual by 1ppm / 1mg/l.

The packaging of the new Granufast and Granufast Action 5 products suggest adding 150g of granules per 10m3 of pool water – approximately eight times the amount of Fi-Clor. This can’t possibly be correct.

We would suggest dosing your pool with Granufast and Granufast Action 5 at the old dose rate of 90g per 50m3, and checking/monitoring your chlorine levels in your usual way.

We have made both UK distributors of hth aware of the potential error, and for the time being have removed Granufast and Granufast Action 5 from sale.

I will update you once we have some feedback from the distributors and manufacturer.
