A number of recent roof cleans have involved heavy rodent contamination within the loft space.

All contaminated loft insulation was safely removed, and the affected areas were thoroughly cleaned and sanitised.

PX-Parvo, a professional-grade disinfectant, was used throughout to ensure all areas were made safe from harmful rodent-related bacteria and diseases, which can pose serious biohazard risks to humans.

A call-out was conducted following reports of scratching noises coming from the main roof area, indicating potential rodent activity.

A full survey of the property identified a likely ingress point located beneath the ground-level lintel beam. Evidence supporting this included a mound of disturbed soil and visible smear/ grease marks around the base of the downpipe, indicating heavy rat activity. The findings suggest that rats had been burrowing above ground level to gain access into the property.

The lintel beam area is particularly vulnerable, as it accommodates waste pipes, gas lines, and electrical cables, which can create gaps or weak points suitable for rodent entry.

Rodent proofing works have now been successfully completed. All identified access points have been sealed using a combination of cement and brickwork to prevent further ingress.

As a precautionary measure, a CCTV drain survey was undertaken to confirm that no defects were identified within the drainage system.

Another mole job successfully completed using Putange traps—and they really delivered.

They can be a bit fiddly to position properly in the tunnels, but once set, they’re incredibly effective and not disturbing the run. For high-risk areas, I’d definitely recommend them—the results speak for themselves.

Just a word of caution to anyone including professionals or homeowners when carrying out any type of fogging insecticide treatments in roof spaces, please be mindful of bats.

It is illegal to kill or block any potential entry points, you’ll be heavily fined. Contact the bat association if you believe you have bats.

Bat activity may be seen outside or potential droppings or live sightings internally.

Woodworm treatment carried out over Christmas. Fresh frass activity has been found on the roof rafters and purlin.

Loft insulation has been removed, and all areas have been cleaned. The areas treated - Rafters, struts, purlin, and ceiling joists with two coats of lignum pro.

Woodworm if left untreated can cause structural damages to the timber that is infested and eventually will need to be replaced. Adequate ventilation and damp should also be investigated to prevent further activity.

Call out for a rodent issue in the property. The client has reported scratching noises in the ground floor roof and wall cavities.

Inspection of the chamber has revealed structural damage to the manhole chamber - Gnawing and burrowing underneath the foundations of the property.

6 inch metex non-return valve has been installed here as a temporary solution.
