Another deep clean recently completed by Absolute Vermination Pest Control.

The optimum breeding temperature for carpet moths is between 20°C and 25°C. However, infestations can occur throughout the year where indoor temperatures remain favourable.
Very hot & cold temperatures will kill all stages of the life cycle and this can be important for controlling.

The larval stage is responsible for all damage caused to natural fibre materials, including wool carpets, rugs, and garments.
Larvae feed on keratin, a protein found in animal-based fibres such as wool, feathers, fur, and hair.

Synthetic materials are generally not a preferred food source; however, thorough cleaning remains essential as accumulations of skin cells, pet hair, and other organic debris can provide sufficient nutrition for developing larvae.

Pheromone monitoring traps are recommended to help assess activity levels within infested areas. These traps capture male moths, helping to disrupt the breeding cycle when used alongside professional treatments, regular vacuuming, and good housekeeping practices.
Recommendations
Vacuum carpets, rugs, skirting boards, and furniture thoroughly and regularly.
Dispose of vacuum contents immediately after use.

Follow-up treatments may be required depending on the severity of the infestation and ongoing monitoring results.

A number of recent roof cleans have involved heavy rodent contamination within the loft space.

All contaminated loft insulation was safely removed, and the affected areas were thoroughly cleaned and sanitised.

PX-Parvo, a professional-grade disinfectant, was used throughout to ensure all areas were made safe from harmful rodent-related bacteria and diseases, which can pose serious biohazard risks to humans.

A call-out was conducted following reports of scratching noises coming from the main roof area, indicating potential rodent activity.

A full survey of the property identified a likely ingress point located beneath the ground-level lintel beam. Evidence supporting this included a mound of disturbed soil and visible smear/ grease marks around the base of the downpipe, indicating heavy rat activity. The findings suggest that rats had been burrowing above ground level to gain access into the property.

The lintel beam area is particularly vulnerable, as it accommodates waste pipes, gas lines, and electrical cables, which can create gaps or weak points suitable for rodent entry.

Rodent proofing works have now been successfully completed. All identified access points have been sealed using a combination of cement and brickwork to prevent further ingress.

As a precautionary measure, a CCTV drain survey was undertaken to confirm that no defects were identified within the drainage system.

Another mole job successfully completed using Putange traps—and they really delivered.

They can be a bit fiddly to position properly in the tunnels, but once set, they’re incredibly effective and not disturbing the run. For high-risk areas, I’d definitely recommend them—the results speak for themselves.
