Located just outside of Ely, Metro Rod Cambridge offers a comprehensive Drain Care and Repair service in and around the Cambridgeshire and Norfolk areas and are fully accredited with the Water Jetting Association and the National Sewage Association. Our services Include:

This service enables you to track & trace route and depth of pipes from above ground

- Pipe relining & patch repairs (excavation not required)
Using the latest drain technology we can reline and repair sections of damaged, broken, and cracked pipes without the need to excavate. We are able to locate the damaged section using CCTV and install an epoxy resin hot cured liner which adheres to the host pipe giving maximum strength to return the pipe to a water tight condition.

- Root removal (excavation not required)
With the aid of CCTV we can locate the area of root damage and remove roots using a mechanical cutter. This section of pipe will then be relined to prevent further root infiltration.

- Excavation
We can carry out full excavations to repair collapsed drains, our engineers hold Street Works certificates enabling excavations to be carried out on private land and in Highways. Area's Covered (ALL AREAS COVERED INCLUDE SURROUNDING TOWNS AND VILLAGES)

We recently received the go-ahead to proceed with the quoted works for a local Housing Association property, with whom we have helped many times before and have built a great relationship with…like most of our clients!

Ricky and Trevor (yep, he occasionally gets involved) attended and made a fabulous team if we do say so ourselves. The work involved root removal and the installation of two new resin sleeves to help prevent further movement of the pipework. A descale was also carried out using a Picote Miller Machine. You know how the lads love their big toys…

Recently, we completed work for a company at the Cambridge Science Park, where Trevor installed three resin sleeves to seal the joints on the surface water outlets. The solution was designed to prevent water back-surfing and stop pe*******on beneath the felt roofing, helping protect the building from future water ingress.

We often talk about PPM (Planned Preventive Maintenance), but that is for a good reason: it is so important and can potentially save you a lot of problems – and money – in the long term.

Tanker engineer Joe and Carl attended to some PPM works at Haverhill Gold Club. Joe used the tanker to empty the grease trap, whilst Carl used a high-pressure water jet to clear any grease that may have been left behind.

PPM basically means ‘to repair or to check for impending repairs before something breaks’. We like to call it smart business practice, but, then again, we are biased… and honest.

The team don’t just visit restaurants for the grub, sadly. Sometimes, it’s for the less fun stuff.

Joe visited a local restaurant with the tanker to empty their grease trap, then disposed of the waste at the authorised waste disposal site. PPM (Planned Preventive Maintenance), as discussed earlier in the week, basically means reducing the likelihood of a major fault occurring in the first place by carrying out necessary maintenance and minor fixes. It’s money well spent, especially if you run a business that relies on everything running smoothly.

A lot of our work is for residential customers, but we also work with businesses of varying sizes and requirements. Some of the work is emergency call-outs, and other times it is for PPM (Planned Preventive Maintenance), an important job for all companies.

Earlier in the year, we received approval for quoted works from a local Housing Association. One of our engineers was required to carry out a CCTV survey, remove an old, damaged manhole cover and install a new cover and frame. And now it is good as new…well, it is new, but you get the idea!

Our job takes us everywhere and involves a variety of challenges. This callout involved a challenge that we have seen many, many, MANY times before.

Upon lifting the chamber, our engineer discovered that this toilet blockage was caused by something we talk about a lot. Yep, the culprit was wipes, and lots of them. If it’s not toilet paper, then please don’t flush it. Trust us when we tell you it never ends well; it just keeps us very busy!

Trevor carried out some approved quoted works for a local council, removing roots and installing patch liners to seal joints. This repaired the cracks, prevented re-entry of root infiltration, and added structural integrity.
