The last job of the day was a quiet one — just me, the steady hum of the machine, and that satisfying moment when a carpet stops looking “grey-ish” and starts looking like itself again.
The customer said, “I didn’t realise how bad it had got,” and I told him, “That’s most carpets, lad — it creeps up on you.”
I finished up by freshening a bit of upholstery too — the sofa cushions where everyone sits of an evening.
I always do a final walk-through with the customer, make sure they’re happy, and leave them with clear advice on drying and aftercare.
It’s their home, after all — I treat it like I’d want mine treated.
Driving back home, I had that nice tired feeling you get from doing a proper job.
Clean carpets, fresh upholstery, happy customers — it’s a good day’s work.
If you want your carpets freshened up, just give me a ring on 07434231504 and we’ll get something in the diary.
