🐝 Wasp Nest Removal – Bonnyrigg, Midlothian

Three wasp nests safely removed from a shed in Bonnyrigg, Midlothian.

As temperatures start to rise, queen wasps become active and begin looking for sheltered areas such as sheds, lofts and garages to start new nests. Early nests are often small like these but can quickly develop into a much larger problem if left untreated.

If you’re noticing increased wasp activity around your property or inside outbuildings, it’s best to deal with it early before the nest grows.

We provide wasp nest removal and pest control across Midlothian, Edinburgh and the Lothians.

🐿 Hearing Noises in Your Loft? Don’t Ignore It

If you’re hearing scratching, banging or movement in your loft during the day, there’s a good chance it could be grey squirrels.

Unlike rats and mice, squirrels are active in daylight — so those noises you’re hearing mid-morning or afternoon are often a clear sign.

Squirrels can cause serious damage once inside a loft, including:
• Chewing through roof materials and insulation
• Damaging cables and pipework
• Creating entry points that lead to water ingress

To properly identify what’s going on, we use motion-activated cameras (as pictured) to monitor activity and confirm exactly what pest is present. This allows us to deal with the problem quickly and correctly, without guesswork.

If you’re hearing anything unusual in your loft, it’s worth getting it checked early before it turns into a bigger issue.

We cover Edinburgh and the Lothians for squirrel control, pest control and proofing.

🪶 Gutter Bird Proofing – East Lothian

Defender Thistle gutter spikes installed along the eaves line to deter small birds from sitting in the gutters and accessing under the roof tiles.

Bird activity at gutter level is a common cause of blocked gutters, fouling and roofline issues, so fitting spikes provides a simple and effective long-term deterrent while still allowing normal water flow.

A straightforward bit of bird proofing and gutter protection to keep the property maintained and prevent ongoing problems.

We carry out bird control and pest proofing across East Lothian and Edinburgh.

🐿 Squirrel Control in Edinburgh

We attended a property in Edinburgh with confirmed squirrel activity and identified the entry point at the roofline/eaves.

As shown in the photos, squirrels will chew through roof materials to gain access to loft spaces. This commonly results in:
• Damage to roofing felt and fascia areas
• Open entry points allowing water ingress
• Contaminated or disturbed insulation
• Risk of electrical damage from cable chewing

Traps have been installed in key areas, along with a motion-activated camera to monitor activity and ensure effective control.

Once activity has been resolved, we will return to carry out proofing works to secure the entry point and prevent re-entry.

If you’re experiencing noise or movement in your loft, early intervention is key to avoiding further damage.

We provide professional squirrel control, pest control and proofing services across Edinburgh and the Lothians.

🐝 First Wasp Nest of 2026

First wasp nest of the year found inside a shed. Early signs like this are easy to miss, especially in outbuildings that aren’t used regularly.

Sheds, garages and loft spaces are some of the most common places wasps start building nests at this time of year. Catching them early makes treatment quicker and prevents the nest developing into a much bigger problem later in the season.

If you’ve not checked your shed or roof space recently, it’s worth having a look for early activity.

We cover Edinburgh and the surrounding areas for wasp nest treatments.

🐦 Gull season is approaching, and the window for proofing the roof is starting to close! 🏠

Gulls are beginning to think about nesting and starting a family. Once nesting activity begins, both the birds and nests are legally protected; even a couple of twigs can be an early sign that a nest is on the way, which means it cannot be removed.🪺

⚠️If you do not act now, you will have to wait until September before proofing work can be carried out.

Over the next couple of weeks, we will be sharing a selection of our gull spike products to humanely deter persistent gulls, showing where each one works best, including the more specialised situations.

Acting early helps protect your property and makes sure the right steps are taken at the right time. 🏠✅

🪶 Roof Ridge Bird Proofing – East Calder

We carried out roof ridge spiking in East Calder to stop birds roosting along the ridge line.

Ridges are a common perch point, especially for gulls, which leads to mess building up down the roof and onto surrounding areas. Installing spike systems along the ridge is a straightforward and effective way to remove that landing spot and keep the roofline clear.

A simple bit of proofing that makes a big difference long-term.

We cover Edinburgh, the Lothians and surrounding areas for bird proofing and pest control.

🐭 Agricultural Pest Control Setup – East Lothian

We recently carried out a pest control setup on an agricultural site in East Lothian, installing secure bait stations to manage ongoing rodent activity.

Sites like this provide ideal conditions for rats and mice, so a structured approach is key. We’ve put measures in place as part of an ongoing pest management programme, ensuring activity is monitored and controlled effectively.

All stations are installed safely and discreetly, in line with best practice, to protect the site while maintaining compliance.

We provide agricultural pest control, rodent management and commercial contracts across East Lothian, Edinburgh and the surrounding areas.
