Why are there so many wasps? 🐝

This video was taken immediately after the wasp nest treatment was applied. While it may look alarming, this surge in activity is actually a normal part of the treatment process.

When the insecticide reaches the nest, the wasps become agitated and rush out to defend their colony. This temporary increase in activity is a good sign that the treatment is reaching the nest. As the wasps move through the colony, they spread the treatment deeper into the nest, helping to eliminate the queen and the rest of the colony.

The increased activity is only temporary and is all part of an effective professional treatment.

Three wasp nests treated and eliminated at this beautiful log cabin in the Scottish Borders. 🐝🏡

The nests had become a real nuisance for guests staying at the property, with wasps constantly bothering them while they were trying to relax and enjoy their break in such a stunning location.

While I'm away on holiday this week, Kieran has been stepping in to carry out our gull deterrent programmes, and he's doing a fantastic job.

He's picked everything up incredibly quickly and has taken to the role like a natural. Even better, the hawk is starting to warm to him now, and the two seem to have become good friends!

Took my brother Kieran to work with me today so he could start learning the ropes of falconry and bird control, and he absolutely loved it!

The first and most important thing he learned was how to tie the falconry knot properly to make sure Eve was always safe and secure, which he picked up reasonably quick. From there, he moved on to handling her and eventually flying her for the first time on site today.

When Eve first met Kieran, she definitely wasn’t too keen on him! Over the last few weeks he’s been coming over regularly, spending time with her, handling her, and building trust before today’s visit. It’s been great to see the progress they’ve made together.

He had an amazing time today and is already looking forward to helping me out more in the future. Proud moment watching him fly Eve for the first time! 🦅

A great moment on a site last week 👌🦅

While carrying out bird control work with Eve the Harris Hawk, this gentleman approached and asked if he could have a photo with her, and of course she was happy to pose for the camera! 😄

He’s kindly given permission for me to share the photo, and it’s always nice to see the interest people have in the birds we work alongside. Eve does an amazing job helping to deter nuisance birds in a safe and natural way.
