I have been building campers my whole professional life. Thanks to the Internet, buying a ready-made system with a diagram is now easier than ever. That is why I would like to write to you about my observations, which are not always shared in stores, and what you can do to save a lot of time and money on your trip.
1. DISCHARGED BATTERIES
A small mistake, an oversight caused by fatigue and from one day to the next, the batteries drop below the magic limit of 10.8V for lead acid batteries and 12.8V for lithium. Is there any way to prevent this? Well, install the Victron Battery Protector: this small device will fully protect you from losing your battery. This device, omitted in most diagrams (after all, it is about the profit of companies producing batteries), comes in several sizes, depending on the demand for amperage. I guarantee that its installation will pay off sooner or later.
ALL ABOUT HOOK-UP
For those who use eco power, a relic of the past, an unnecessary umbilical cord connecting us with the world we want to escape from, for others, the line that gives us safety, and this is what my story about SAFETY will be about.
Some serious electrical system failures in our campers are caused by incorrect assembly or service of 240V electrical systems. Here, the financial losses can be huge, not to mention the possibility of electric shock. Therefore, I ask you to protect yourself from such a possibility. What is the easiest way to achieve this? Everyone knows an electrician who repairs the electricity in our homes. Ask him to inspect, show your project, explain the diagram and ask him to check the quality of all connections. For people buying used campers, according to the law, you have the right to receive an NCC Electric Certificate, guaranteeing that the 230V connection was built correctly. If you don't have one, ask a professional to inspect your system. Please remember that in the case of 240V electricity, even the slightest mistake can be costly. The last request is for those who have not yet started the season to find time to check after the winter whether your system is working correctly. Prevention is always better than cure.
I wish you many successful trips.
See you on the
route
