⚠️ WARNING - PARVOVIRUS HAS BEEN DIAGNOSED IN THE SUTTON IN ASHFIELD AREA ⚠️

There is currently an outbreak of canine parvovirus in the Nottingham area but today we have unfortunately confirmed a parvovirus infection in one of our patients 😢 The dog is walked in Rookery Park in Sutton in Ashfield.

The dog was vaccinated and up to date with yearly boosters but, like with all vaccinations, that doesn't stop a dog from contracting the infection. Vaccinations mean that a dog is much less likely to contract the infection in the first place but if they unfortunately do, then they're much less likely to develop a serious illness as a result. Being vaccinated can be the difference between living and dying.💔

Parvovirus is a deadly virus that causes vomiting and usually bloody diarrhoea in dogs. It rapidly causes dehydration and can be fatal if left untreated. Fatailities are much more common in puppies or unvaccinated dogs. It's highly contagious and spreads through direct contact with infected faeces e.g. walking through areas that other dogs have been, or indirectly through people or items that the infected dog has been in contact with.

Having vomiting and bloody diarrhoea does not necessarily mean that a dog has parvovirus as lots of other infections/conditions can cause the same signs but it COULD be parvovirus. We are regularly seeing vomiting and diarrhoea cases currently which aren't parvovirus and we are testing all dogs with vomiting or diarrhoea at present for parvovirus because of this outbreak.

If you are worried that your dog may have parvovirus then we can test your dog for this infection by bringing in a fresh faecal sample from your dog. We get the results within 10 minutes.

Prior to the boys going down hill we had decided to get a play mate for Floki. She arrived on Monday as planned but unfortunately the boys were too poorly for us to have her immediately. Karen Oliver kindly agreed to look after her until the boys had gone to the bridge. Welcome Freyja Hagan to our family, you are already proving to be amazing at soothing our broken hearts, Ralph and Colin Hagan would have adored you 💕💞♥ Finally as a result of having these two Pinkys will not be taking any new customers in the future so I can spend as much time at home as possible x

As many of you know we lost our Duffy on Tuesday. We are all heartbroken, so lovely to get this from a customer and her doggy today. Xx Fly high Duffy xx

Very sad day, just found out my dear friend has lost her great dane, Freddy was guiness book of world records biggest dog. I was privileged to have met him , he was wonderful, my heart is breaking for Claire, his mummy, fly high Freddy 💔 😢 💙

Been cooking for my care customers and done far too much, got 4 tubs of hearty chicken broth if anyone knows someone elderly or vulnerable that would like some. I can deliver tomorrow, Eastwood area , no charge.
