Parking in Retford has been made more difficult and more expensive. It was free before 10 am and after 4 pm
We now have to pay from 8am-6pm and it’s local businesses that will feel the impact the most.
If people are being put off visiting the town because of parking costs and hassle, that’s fewer customers through the door for independent shops and cafés. It doesn’t make sense.
The council should be doing more to support local businesses — not creating barriers for the very people who keep them going. Simple solutions like reimbursing parking with in-store purchases or offering free short-stay parking would go a long way.
We as a business will start this initiative ourselves. If you make a purchase of £20 or more with us, your parking fee will be deducted, proof of parking fee is required.
Retford deserves better. Support the town and support its businesses.
