A most fowl chimney sweep fact:

In the 18th and 19th centuries, before the invention of modern, efficient sweeping tools, chimney sweeps sometimes used live geese to clean chimneys.
A goose with its legs tied together would be dropped down the chimney. As it panicked, the bird would flap its wings, dislodging soot from the chimney walls.
The practice led to the old, grim saying: "The blacker the goose, the cleaner the flue".

Another stove door all fixed up. This stove is the customer's only source of heating, so I was determined to have it done and dusted the same day for them, despite a busy day sweeping!

The glass was split in two 😱 so new glass cut to size, stripped screws cut off, new holes drilled and tapped for some fresh screws, new gaskets for the glass retaining clips, rope channels cleaned out, and fresh rope seals applied all round. Bosh! 💪
