🏛️✨ A PIECE OF HISTORY BROUGHT BACK TO LIFE! ✨🏛️

Just LOOK at these beautiful Minton tiles! 😍

There’s something really special about traditional geometric tiled floors. The intricate patterns, rich colours and timeless craftsmanship make them a stunning feature in any period property.

Unfortunately, years of wear, dirt and layers of paint had left this gorgeous entrance hallway looking tired, dull and rather neglected. 😢

But underneath it all was a beautiful floor just waiting to shine again! ✨

🛠️ THE RESTORATION PROCESS

This wasn’t your average floor clean!

🎨 Step 1 – Paint Removal
Years of paint splashes and stubborn deposits had to be carefully scraped away from the tile surfaces, taking care to preserve the original tiles.

🧽 Step 2 – Deep Cleaning
We thoroughly deep cleaned the entire floor, lifting ingrained dirt, grime and residues that had accumulated over the years.

💨 Step 3 – Drying
The floor was allowed to dry thoroughly before applying any protective treatment.

✨ Step 4 – Colour Enhancement & Sealing
Finally, we applied a specialist colour-enhancing sealer, enriching the beautiful terracotta reds, deep blacks and warm cream tones.

😍 THE RESULT? ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS!

The difference is incredible!

🪵✨ FROM TIRED & DAMAGED TO ABSOLUTELY STUNNING! ✨🪵

Just look at this transformation! 🤩

This beautiful 1960s finger parquet flooring has been given a new lease of life, and the results really do speak for themselves! 👀

Hidden beneath decades of wear, scratches and ageing lacquer was a gorgeous original wood floor just waiting to be brought back to life. ❤️

But this restoration wasn’t simply a case of sanding and applying a fresh finish…

🔨 THE CHALLENGE

Sections of the original parquet were missing, particularly along the hallway wall beneath the radiator, leaving exposed floorboards and an unsightly gap in an otherwise beautiful floor.

Rather than replace the entire floor, we set about carefully restoring what was already there — preserving its character, history and craftsmanship.

🛠️ THE RESTORATION

✅ Carefully repaired and reconstructed missing sections using reclaimed parquet blocks.

✅ Restored the original finger parquet pattern to blend with the surrounding floor.

✅ Professionally sanded away decades of tired, worn finishes.

✅ Brought out the incredible natural grain and contrasting tones of the timber.

✅ Applied a fresh, durable protective finish to enhance the wood and keep it looking fantastic for years to come.

✨ From tired, damaged floorboards to a beautifully restored original pine floor ✨

This one was a proper restoration job — not simply a quick sand and coat.

When we first arrived, the original pine floor had seen better days. Years of wear, old finishes, paint marks and general use had left the boards looking dark, tired and uneven. There were also several loose and damaged boards that needed attention before we could even think about sanding.

We started by carefully securing the loose floorboards, screwing them down where required to make the floor stable underfoot. Damaged sections were repaired, and boards that were beyond saving were replaced with suitable timber to keep the character of the original floor intact.

Once the repairs were complete, we tackled the gaps between the boards using a sawdust and resin “Mix & Fill” system. The fine sanding dust from the actual floor is mixed with specialist resin to create a filler that blends far more naturally with the surrounding timber than a standard coloured filler.

Then came the transformation.

The floor was progressively sanded back, removing decades of dirt, surface damage and old coatings, revealing the natural grain, knots and warm colour of the original pine underneath.

After the final preparation and clean-down, the floor was sealed and protected with 2 coats of Bona Traffic HD in Silk Matt — one of our preferred professional finishes for areas that need excellent durability without leaving the timber looking overly glossy or artificial.

The result is exactly what we love about restoring older timber floors: all of the character remains, but the floor now looks clean, warm and properly finished again.

And those before-and-after photos really do tell the story. 👌

✨ Upholstery Cleaning Isn’t Just for Sofas! ✨

Today’s job was a great example of the difference professional upholstery cleaning can make — this time on a fully upholstered bed frame and deep-buttoned headboard.

The headboard had developed a noticeable body oil / contact stain in one of the areas most frequently touched. These types of marks can gradually build up as natural skin oils, perspiration and everyday residues transfer into the fabric fibres.

We began by carefully treating the affected area, before carrying out a thorough low-moisture clean across the entire headboard and upholstered bed frame.

Low-moisture cleaning is ideal for pieces like this because it allows us to deeply clean and refresh the fabric while keeping moisture levels controlled — particularly important on upholstered furniture that cannot simply be moved outside to dry.

The result? A noticeably cleaner, fresher and more even-looking finish, with the staining substantially improved and the whole bed frame refreshed. 👌

🧼 CARPET & UPHOLSTERY CLEANING — IT’S NOT ALL WOOD FLOORS! 🛋️

If you follow our page, you’d be forgiven for thinking we spend every day sanding beautiful wooden floors. 😄

Wood floor restoration has become a huge part of what we do — but Safe Space started with specialist cleaning, and we’re still out every week restoring carpets, sofas and other soft furnishings across the North East.

This job is a good example.

The carpet had accumulated the usual combination of general soiling, traffic marks and several more noticeable stains around the main living areas.

Rather than saturating the carpet with large volumes of water, we use a professional low-moisture carpet cleaning system designed to thoroughly clean the fibres while keeping moisture levels to a minimum.

That means:

✅ Deep professional cleaning
✅ Targeted treatment of individual stains and problem areas
✅ Very little water compared with traditional extraction cleaning
✅ Much faster drying times
✅ No excessively wet carpets left behind
