SPOTTED ONE?
DON’T LET “JUST” DO THE COUNTING
“It’s just one mouse” is an easy reassurance. But a brief appearance beside the kitchen units tells you what you’ve seen, not everything happening behind them.
Can a mouse enter alone? Yes. Can one sighting tell you it’s alone? No.
Mice can stay concealed beneath units, behind appliances and within wall voids. A sighting deserves attention, but it takes further evidence and inspection to understand the extent of activity.
Look out for:
• Small droppings in cupboards, along wall edges or behind equipment
• Gnawed food packaging and unexplained food damage
• Shredded paper or other nesting material in concealed spaces
• Scratching or rustling sounds, particularly when the building is quiet
Food, shelter and accessible entry points can encourage mice to stay. Secure ingredients and pet food, remove crumbs and waste, reduce clutter and check gaps around doors and pipework.
For businesses, the concern extends beyond an unwelcome visitor. Contaminated stock, damaged packaging and a customer sighting can put food safety and hard earned confidence at risk.
A professional inspection helps identify signs, access routes and suitable next steps. Catching one mouse alone doesn’t establish that all activity has stopped.
