No names are being mentioned...
But I need to address this situation and others like it!
4 weeks ago I had a customer contact me via email and asked me to go and quote to clean their carpets
(3 Bed House)
Naturally I arranged a date and time to go and do the quote and priced up accordingly with my 3 Bed House deal.
The Customer said my quote was higher than the other person, but thank you for taking the time to go and quote.
No problem at all 👍
Roll on to earlier today!
The same customer contacted me and asked what my availability was and if I could do it cheaper than what I quoted.
I asked a few questions and explained that my price for the 3 Bed House deal was already reduced.
It turns out that the customers had hired the other company to clean their carpets and they had made a absolute hash of them.
It also turns out that the other company hadn't even been out and quoted, they had done it all over a message.
Apparently there was two people turn up on the day that didn't speak very good English and said that the customers had to pay the price up front before the clean.
According to the customers the company was done in just over 45 mins
(A 3 Bed House! In 45 mins?)
This would take me approx 2.5 - 3hours to complete.
(3 Bedrooms, Stairs, Landing, Living Room, Hallway) doing the job properly
There was marks left from where the cleaners had scrubbed at stains with god knows what.
The marks looked like bleach marks!
And the carpet was left soaking
When the customers contact them to tell them about the marks on the carpets, the men blocked their number
And non of the other contact details was legit and led nowhere.
The customers wouldn't say who they used
Just that they looked ok on Facebook!?
To cut a long story short, they wanted me to go and rectify their work.
At this point I had to be blunt and say
I wasn't prepared to conduct the clean now after another company had been in.
Why?
Because If I go and try to clean up after them, I would be the last person to touch the carpet and thus liability would stand with me!
This isnt something I am prepared to put my name and my reputation to!
So the customers are now left with a insurance claim on top of being money down from the clean.
This is why I have always said...
I'm not the cheapest! But I do the job properly and always sit down with the customer and manage their expectations and ask them the nature of the stains etc..
I'm highly trained, use safe chemicals and equipment ...
But at the end of the day, I'm not a magician.
Please, Please, Please be aware of scam companies
They may be cheap, but at what expense will it actually cost you?
