That burning smell isn’t something to ignore…

This carpet cleaning machine came into the workshop tripping electrics, overheating, and giving off a strong burning smell. Once stripped down, the problem became obvious very quickly.

Poorly connected wiring.
Incorrect gauge cable.
Cheap connectors.
Unnecessary joins.
And multiple signs of previous “quick fixes” and bodged repairs.

Over time the wiring had started to overheat, go brittle and crusty, creating resistance, excessive heat build-up, and eventually electrical failure.

We stripped out all of the damaged wiring and replaced it properly using the correct gauge cable, heavy-duty connectors where needed, and a much cleaner, safer wiring setup designed to handle the machine’s power demands correctly.

This is something we regularly see specifically on carpet cleaning machines due to the high power draw from vacuum motors, pumps, and heaters all working together. Poor quality repairs and undersized wiring simply do not last under that kind of load.

Cheap repairs nearly always end up costing more in the long run. At best they cause nuisance breakdowns and downtime. At worst they can damage expensive components and create serious electrical faults.

First up was an IPC 512 supplied to a busy livery yard to help keep large floor areas, walkways, and stable surroundings clean and manageable with far less manual effort.

The second delivery was a Numatic TTB1840NX heading to a vehicle workshop and garage environment, giving the customer a compact but incredibly capable scrubber dryer ideal for tight working areas and day-to-day floor cleaning.
