💨Our team have recently revisited this property in Otley, West Yorkshire to conduct a heavy steam to the surrounding wall.

Situated next to a busy road, this wall had seen years of atmospheric pollution and carbon deposits, as well as a large amount of organic growth, completely staining and hiding the natural stone.

Using our DOFF system, the team were able to remove the build up and restore the boundary wall back to its original state without damaging the masonry!

🧱 Not all repointing is created equal. Here is why the details matter…

Last week, our stonemasons carried out sample patch repointing in lime. As you can see, these joints are extremely tight! To give our clients exactly what they want, we customize the mortar—shown here in grey, black, and off-white.

Working with joints this fine requires extreme precision. We take extra precautions to safely grind them out and use special care for a flawless, neat finish.

⚠️ A quick warning for property owners:
Be cautious of builders who try to cut corners by using cement instead of lime, or by using a mortar raking blade that is too big. They often do this to force the joints wider and make the job quicker and easier for themselves. Unfortunately, this cuts into the brick, and while cement is cheaper and easier to use, it can cause major structural damage over time. Lime allows the building to breathe!

The team were at a property in Leeds city centre carrying out a steam clean to remove a collection of biological growth from the surface.

After years of neglect, the building had began to develop a layer of efflorescence and carbon, both of which create an unsightly appearance to the property. A mixture of vegetation had also began to grow from the property, including moss, algae, and lichen - these can act as a long-term weathering agent to the building if left untouched, as well as giving the building a poor aesthetic.

Using the DOFF steam cleaner, we were able to give the property a fresh look, remove all vegetation and protect the building for years to come! We were able to use our own access equipment, assisting us in completing the work outside of normal business hours to account for the busy high street.
