Today’s job turned into an unexpected wildlife rescue 🐦

A customer could hear scratching and chirping coming from behind the wall of a sealed-off flue. After investigating, we discovered a pigeon had come down the chimney and become trapped behind the plasterboard with no way out.

We carefully opened up the boarded fireplace, located the frightened little visitor, and safely rescued it. Once free, it quickly flew off unharmed.

Not every callout is routine — sometimes the job is about helping more than just the customer. Glad we could give this little one a happy ending! 🙌

And there we have it, another year complete. It’s been quite the year for Sweep Spot - our best yet! Slumbering your stove is when your appliance is set at minimal output, usually overnight, so that burning can be resumed without needing to relight a fire.

It can lead to:
🔴 Sooty and/or dry deposits on the flue lining
🔴 Increased levels of carbon monoxide and particulates
🔴 Increased likelihood of condensation within the chimney

'I didn't use my chimney last winter so it doesn't need sweeping'. This chimney was completely blocked with cobweb and would have been dangerous to use.
