Our lovely Charlotte Charlesworth is taking on this challenge and raising funds in memory of her much loved Nan who recently passed away. What a wonderful tribute to her and all of us at Bright & Beautiful Derby want to wish her luck and love for the event. We can also help with the laundry after this one!!! Today we’re celebrating Ellie’s 4 year anniversary with us!

Ellie leads our lovely Orange Team with such care and consistency. She truly looks after both her team and her clients, always striving for high standards and delivering beautiful results.

She’s the kind of person clients trust implicitly and teams feel supported by.

In an industry where the average length of service for frontline cleaners is often less than a year, 4 years is something really special.

But she’s not the exception in our business…

Month end… not everyone’s favourite part of running a business 😅
But I’ve realised something recently — delegation really is a skill you have to keep refining.
Over time, I’ve learned to step back from the parts that drain me, and lean into the bits I genuinely enjoy (yes… there are some!). The overview, the sense-checking, making sure everything lines up — that’s my zone.
The detail? Safely in the hands of people far better than me at it.
And today, our newest recruit Rosie was fully involved 🐾
(quality control, morale boosting… and possibly chasing a few receipts around the office).
It’s taken me a while to get here, but building a business isn’t about doing everything — it’s about creating the right structure, trusting your people, and knowing where you add the most value.
And when that clicks… everything runs a little smoother.

What a truly special afternoon last Thursday celebrating the King’s Award for Voluntary Service for me&dee 💛

This award is so rightly about the volunteers, the people behind the scenes who give their time, energy and hearts so generously to support families when they need it most.

My own journey with me&dee has evolved over the years.
I first came on board as a business sponsor, then became a volunteer, spent three years as a trustee… and now I’m back where I love being most, volunteering.

To see this award presented, and to feel part of that journey in even a small way, made me feel incredibly proud.

What stood out most yesterday was hearing from the volunteers themselves, the stories, the friendships, the shared experiences. Because volunteering doesn’t just become something you do… it becomes part of who you are.
For me, it’s been about so many special moments,
Mad Hatter tea parties, Santa tractor runs, swimming sessions… and lots of laughter along the way.

It’s also brought friendships I genuinely value, and memories I’ve been lucky enough to share with my daughters too.

And of course, at the heart of it all are the families and children, the reason we all do what we do ❤️

Huge congratulations to Maria Hanson MBE and the entire me&dee team. What has been created is truly something very special.

Lovely to see so many familiar faces yesterday, you know who you are!

Our little pocket rocket Gail has retired! 🚀
We will all miss her so much. Gail has been such a wonderful member of our team, starting with us as a housekeeper and later keeping our laundry and ironing department organised, efficient and in great shape. Nothing was ever too much trouble and she always brought a smile with her.
Gail has been a huge part of our team and our days won’t quite be the same without her energy and dedication.
We wish her the very best as she heads into her next adventures – a very well-deserved retirement! ✨
The team also put together a memory-making gift to say thank you for everything she has done.
Gail, thank you for everything you’ve given to the team over the years. The door is always open and you will always be part of the Bright & Beautiful family. 💛

Our latest addition *Rosie made her first appearance for her Supapet Allestree & Allenton photo session.

They are so lovely in store, and as a local Derby business, I love to support other local business! I have had lots of advice and they love our pets!!!

Please like their page and if you have a moment, give Rosie a little like too, for her first 'pawtrait'. She was fairly well behaved and enjoyed her little trip out and came away with some essentials! There will be a link in the comments . Xx
