How many of you have actually seen a ship rat on a job?

Back in 2022, a BPCA member survey gathered reports from ports, docks and inland locations across Britain and Ireland.

In PPC109, Professor Stephen Harris explored those findings and explained why getting a clear picture of ship rat populations was surprisingly difficult. Pest professionals had records that naturalists were unlikely to pick up.

And the name “black rat” doesn’t always help with identification. They can be brown too.
