Morning all, hope your bank holidays were lovely!

Time for a health and safety moment. It is still very hot this week so please take care 🌡️☀️ Add heat to your risk assessments, and avoid working in bee suits, in attics and other hot spaces. If it can't be avoided, implement strict safety controls, ie working in the cooler hours, regular breaks, using a fan to circulate air.

An attic can easily exceed 40°C–50°C when the outside temperature is 30°C. There is a severe risk of heat exhaustion, dehydration, or heat stroke.

Stay hydrated and safe, please!

It's No Falls Week 2026, a campaign to promote safe working at height in the UK🪜 https://buff.ly/dwMSV6f

Pest professionals spend a lot of time at heights, so it's important to regularly refresh your knowledge of safe working practices.

Check out our Working at Height online learning course 🧑‍💻 it covers best practice guidance and legal obligations of both employers and employees.

Our lovely (and fairly new) Member Support Officer Paul McAssey is in Northern Ireland this week, doing member assessments. Hit him up if you're in the area!

Meet Barry! 🕷️ We had a call today from a member of the public, who found this "hench spidey" (our receptionist's words) in her Amazon parcel.

One call to the RSPCA later and Barry has been identified as a species of Huntsman and is on his way to a tropical pet store. 👋
