Our Story

We specialise in carpet and upholstery cleaning, we started our first business in 1990 when we purchased a Chem-Dry franchise, A & G Chem-dry where we learned the trade and in 1992 won franchise of the year, we wanted to be self-employed and sold our franchise and started Amandagray Cleaning in the late 90’s. After building that business up we took a side step into Contract cleaning with a good friend and sold Amandagray (which is still a going concern in Spondon) it was a challenge with another franchise company called Dublecheck and proved to be hard work but no where near as rewarding, no matter how well you trained staff to clean, it was always the small items missed that got picked up on. Keeping hold of well trained staff and maintaining good moral was a bit harder than we expected so we sold our share in the business to our partner and Graham and I came back to what we know best and started House Mates just over 7 years ago. We have worked in the carpet & Upholstery Cleaning business since 1990 so our knowledge and customer care is second to none. You will get a call from me (Amanda) a few weeks after we have carried out your cleaning just to make sure you are happy with the end results- we will come back and remove any marks that have reappeared within that time. So our guarantee is simple, if you are not 100% happy with our work - then you don't pay.

We clean and protect carpets and upholstery - covering most fabrics and specialsing in leather suite cleaning as well.
