The mental load behind cleaning is something no one really talks about…
People think we just show up and wipe things down.
What they don’t see is the constant mental checklist running the entire time.
Remembering every client’s preferences.
Which products they like.
Which rooms need extra attention.
How certain things are supposed to be done.
The little details they always notice — light switches, skirtings, corners, shades, all of it.
It’s double checking your work because one missed spot can turn into a message later 😭
Before we even walk through the door, we’re already mentally planning the entire clean & the next 1 on our list, micro managing the team, reminding them of clients quirks…
How to stay on schedule, be thorough, manage time, and make sure every detail is handled right.
Cleaning isn’t just physical work.
It’s constantly managing details, expectations, timing, and a nonstop mental checklist 💯
And honestly… that part is exhausting too.
All that said, I love my job, its great for my dopamine hit (adhd) & it focuses my mind for 7hrs of the day!
When I arrive home, I sit in my car for 5/10minutes because in my car there is nothing screaming at my brain, do this do that & all before I can grab a cup of tea & do my accounts.
At the end of the day, im just a cleaner, to my kids-im mum…1 day I’ll be Morag again & time/peace for me.
Cherish your cleaners 🫶
